This week’s NXT featured several high-profile matchups, along with two title matches to open the show.
1 NXT North American Championship | Leon Ruff def. Johnny Gargano(c)
Johnny Gargano cut a promo to start the show and wanted to get over his streak of being unable to defend his titles. He spun the wheel to determine his next challenger and it landed on Leon Ruff.
Gargano looked cocky against the star who hasn’t won much in WWE. Damian Priest kept an eye on Gargano from the other side of the plexiglass, and eventually, the distraction proved enough for Ruff to roll up the champion to win the title.
Backstage: An elated Ruff was surrounded by several stars, as Priest gave him his car keys and asked him to get out of the area. Priest and Gargano had an altercation to end the segment.
2 NXT Cruiserweight Championship | Santos Escobar(c) def. Jake Atlas
Atlas got a chance to win the title from the leader of Legado el Fantasma, as the commentators showed his attack on the group before the show started. Atlas’ valiant efforts, the referee banning Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendonza, didn’t prove enough as Escobar hit the Legado finisher to retain the title.
Backstage: A video aired with Shotzi Blackheart absolutely frustrated after Candice LeRae destroyed her mini-tank last week. Blackheart promised to kick LeRae’s ass soon enough.
3 Xia Li vs. Raquel Gonzalez
Xia Li never appeared for her match against Raquel Gonzalez, which left Gonzalez frustrated. She ended up attacking Boa, who tried to apologize for Li’s no-show. A Chinese man entered the arena and gave a letter to a beaten-up Boa.
Backstage: Timothy Thatcher attacked August Grey, his student from the training sessions. Dexter Lumis appeared behind Thatcher, and William Regal calmed things down between the two.
4 Candice LeRae def. Toni Storm
Toni Storm’s comeback run came to a halt, as a fantastic match between the two stars saw LeRae pick up the win after using the ropes as leverage during the pinfall.
Post-match, Storm tried to attack LeRae, but the mystery attacker from Halloween Havoc joined LeRae. Shotzi Blackheart entered to level the odds. The mystery attacker removed her mask revealed herself to be Indi Hartwell! Hartwell and LeRae proved too much for the two faces.
5 Timothy Thatcher def. Dexter Lumis
A very old-school match saw Thatcher pick up a win over Lumis, who hasn’t lost much in NXT so far. A distraction from Cameron Grimes allowed Thatcher to lock in the Crucifix on Lumis for the win.
Post-match, Grimes put over a sack on Lumis’ head and attacked him viciously, saying he is not afraid of him.
Promo: Tommaso Ciampa cut a promo on today’s backstage culture, where people are always complaining and whining. Ciampa said he is old-school and wants to change the mentality in the current age.
6 NXT Tag Team Championship Match | Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch(c) def. Breezango
Breezango got their rematch for the titles, but the Kings of NXT proved too much for the former champs. Distractions from Pat McAfee and Pete Dunne allowed Lorcan and Burch to hit their double team finisher for the win. Drake Maverick also tried to help out the faces in the middle of the match but was taken out by Dunne.
Post-match, Maverick and Fandango were taken out by the Kings of NXT once again. McAfee delivered his signature punt kick to Breeze to end the show.
