This week’s episode of NXT featured two major title matches along with an announcement from the returning NXT Champion Finn Balor.

NXT North American Championship | Leon Ruff(c) def. Johnny Gargano by DQ

A frustrated Gargano cut a promo before the start of the match, calling Ruff’s win a fluke. Gargano dominated for the majority of the match before Damian Priest appeared and provided a distraction.

Despite Priest’s distractions, Gargano looked set to reclaim the title after hitting the One Final Beat DDT. However, Priest pulled Ruff out of the ring and smacked him, causing a DQ finish.

Blindfold Match | Dexter Lumis vs. Cameron Grimes

The referee handed both the stars blindfolds before the match. Grimes tried to attack Lumis but ended up hitting the referee multiple times. Both the stars took off their folds and brawled all around the ring before Grimes retreated through the crowd to end the match.

Backstage: William Regal didn’t appreciate Priest’s actions during the title match. Leon Ruff walked up to Priest and said he doesn’t need his help. Ruff smacked Priest in the face and said he will take care of Gargano himself.

A vignette aired with Shotzi Blackheart, who announced NXT War Games, and said she will take revenge against Candice LeRae for her actions.

Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell def. Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter

LeRae teamed up with her new ally Hartwell, who revealed herself last week as the mystery attacker. The duo reigned supreme over the babyfaces after some solid team-work helped them pick up the win following LeRae’s Wicked Stepsister finish on Carter.

Kushida def. Arturo Ruas

Ruas, who was prominently featured on RAW Underground a few months ago, faced off against Kushida but couldn’t hold down the Japanese superstar. Kushida applied a unique pinning predicament to pick up the win.

Backstage: Ember Moon and Toni Storm formed a temporary alliance to take out Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez, but kept their sights on the NXT Women’s Championship.

Ember Moon and Toni Storm def. Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez

The two stars overcame their differences and took out the heel duo after Storm rolled up Kai to sneak out a victory. It was a long, hard-fought match with both the teams bringing their best offense.

Post-match, Hartwell and LeRae attacked the winners and threw them into the ring where they were attacked by Gonzalez. The commentators noted that a possible WarGames match could be in the offing.

Timothy Thatcher def. August Grey

Timothy Thatcher took on his former student and displayed his usual hard-striking abilities coupled with submission skills to pick up the win. A neck-based submission was the final straw, forcing Grey to quickly tap out.

Post-match, Thatcher continued his attack but he was interrupted by Tommaso Ciampa. The duo had a staredown before Thatcher made his exit.

Damian Priest made his entrance for a match but got blindsided by Johnny Gargano. The duo brawled for a while before Leon Ruff joined the fray and somehow managed to get better of both the stars and retreated to the back. Priest dropped Gargano and stood tall to end the segment.

William Regal visited Boa’s home to check on him, and Boa said that ‘he’ will be coming next week, along with Xia Li before closing the door on the GM.

Backstage: Leon Ruff said he has no idea what he is doing and is willing to fight both the superstars.

NXT Women’s Championship | Io Shirai(c) def. Rhea Ripley

The two stars battled it out in the main event in an epic encounter, in a long and hard-fought battle with Shirai coming out on top after hitting the moonsault on the former champion.

Balor Returns: Post-match, Finn Balor returned and congratulated Shirai. Balor’s promo was interrupted by Pat McAfee and his stable. McAfee talked about his group’s dominance, and asked Balor to hand over the title.

Balor, instead, introduced the returning Undisputed Era, who immediately hit the ring and brawled with the Kings of NXT. The show ended with the two teams continuing their assaults.
