WWE NXT Results, Oct 14: The Garganos Become Number 1 Contenders, Toni Storm Returns

The build for Halloween Havoc continued with new challengers for the titles coming up on this week’s episode of the black and gold brand.

The Undisputed Era def. Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch

Kyle O’Reilly accompanied Bobby Fish and Roderick Strong and cut a promo on Ridge Holland’s attack last week. Fish and Strong ended up on the winning team and won the right to challenge Breezango for the Tag Team Championships. The finish saw Strong hit a running knee on Lorcan for the win.

Backstage: Finn Balor’s surgery was shown, and he would be out for weeks. Wiliam Regal would make an announcement regarding the title, later in the show.

Ember Moon had an interview where she talked about her terrible 2019, and how she immediately wanted to come back to NXT once she was cleared. Moon hyped the Women’s Division and set her eyes on the Women’s Title.

Jake Atlas def. Ashante ‘Thee’ Adonis

In a short matchup, Atlas rolled up Adonis for the pinfall. Legado del Fantasma interrupted in the middle of the match which allowed Atlas to sneak in a win. Post-match, Adonis was attacked by the heel faction but Atlas and Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott made the save.

Backstage: Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae once again talked about becoming first husband-wife champions on the brand, and Gargano added that he will teach Austin Theory a lesson in the ring.

Johnny Gargano def. Austin Theory

Theory had a great match against the only Triple Crown champion of NXT but came up short as Gargano delivered the One Final Beat DDT to win the match. Post-match, the duo showed respect to each other.

Backstage: Raquel Gonzalez challenged Rhea Ripley for a match at Halloween Havoc. Ripley appeared and the duo started brawling backstage, bringing out the officials to separate them.

Candice LeRae def. Shotzi Blackheart

The second No.1 contender match for the night saw Candice LeRae take down the host of Halloween Havoc, with some help from the new acquaintance of the Garganos, Indi Hartwell, who passed brass knuckles to LeRae.

Drake Maverick and Killian Dain continued their unique tag-team, as Maverick came up with the name ‘The Furry and The Fury’, but Dain wasn’t impressed.

Toni Storm def. Aliyah

The Robert Stone Brand cut a promo in the middle of the ring but were interrupted by the returning former NXT UK Women’s Champion Toni Storm

Storm dominated and took up the victory with the Storm Zero.

Backstage: William Regal announced Rhea Ripley vs Raquel Gonzalez for Halloween Havoc, and expressed his displeasure over the ending of LeRae vs Blackheart. Xia Li and Boa walked up to him, and Li demanded a match for next week.

Imperium def. Killian Dain and Drake Maverick

The former Tag Team Champions took on the goofy duo, who couldn’t upstage Imperium. Maverick ended up taking the pin after Barthel pinned him following the Imperial Implosion.

Post-match, Ever Rise attacked Maverick, but Dain saved his partner in a surprise turn of events. Dain said only he can beat up Maverick before making his exit.

NXT North American Championship: Damian Priest (c) def. Dexter Lumis

Lumis challenged for the title but a distraction from Cameron Grimes, who hit the Cave In on Lumis, was enough for Priest to retain his title. Priest hit South of Heaven to retain the title.

Post-match, Gargano attacked Priest, before William Regal entered and calmed things down. Regal announced Gargano vs Priest for Halloween Havoc. He added that Gargano and LeRae’s title matches will have stipulations, to be decided by spin the wheel by Blackheart.
