WWE NXT Results, Oct 7: Ember Moon and Rhea Ripley Team-Up, Gargano Gets New Ally

NXT’s first episode from the Capitol Wrestling Center aired with the fallout from Takeover 31 and build-up for Halloween Havoc set to take place later in the month.

Tommaso Ciampa def. Kushida by DQ

William Regal pushed this match to the start of the show after a backstage altercation. In a highly physical encounter, both the stars tried to break each other.

Kushida locked in the Hoverboard Lock and was inches away from victory before an attack by Velveteen Dream caused him the match. Post-match, Dream tried to attack Kushida further, but the Japanese star retaliated and forced Dream to retreat to the back.

The Return of Moon

Ember Moon entered the ring and cut a promo on how things have changed in NXT since her last run. She is back for the NXT title, which led to Io Shirai making her entrance.

Shirai and Moon stared down before Rhea Ripley entered and gave props to Moon for her newfound avatar. Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez attacked Ripley out of nowhere as Moon made the save. William Regal announced a tag match for later in the night.

Backstage: Drake Maverick talked about his partnership with Killian Dain, who denied the existence of any harmony between the two. Maverick revealed that they will face Ever Rise, which made Dain furious.

Backstage: Adam Cole was frustrated after Sunday’s events, as Ridge Holland attacked him and Kyle O’Reilly lost his match. Cole said Holland will have to face the wrath of his faction, and that’s undisputed

Killian Dain and Drake Maverick def. Ever Rise

With new goofy theme music, the duo took down Ever Rise after Dain powerbombed Drake onto Parker for the pin. Dain and Drake argued quite a bit during the match but eventually survived.

A promotional video for Toni Storm aired, who promised to be back in the brand with a completely new avatar and energy.

A New Ally

Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae were seen walking their dog in the neighborhood, discussing their respective losses at Takeover. They reached their garage and saw a brand new TV (after Tegan Nox destroyed their old one) with Indi Hartwell’s name on it.

Austin Theory def. Leon Ruff

The young superstar picked up a quick victory over Ruff with the ATL, and immediately took the mic and called out Adam Cole. Theory said last week Cole got the better of him, but the story will be different this time around.

Dexter Lumis def. Austin Theory: Lumis answered Theory’s challenge and made his in-ring return. The terrifying Lumis proved too much for the trash-talking brat as Lumis tapped him out with the Silencer.

Cameron Grimes blindsided Lumis, after this altercation at Takeover. Grimes put out Lumis with the Cave-In and stood tall to end the segment.

Backstage: Dakota Kai said that Ripley will be done and dusted tonight, and Ember Moon must wait in line for a chance at Io Shirai.

Backstage: Grimes said Lumis didn’t answer his question, which frustrated him and led to the attack.

Finn Balor’s jaw injury was serious than expected and he will be staying out of action for a while, the announce team revealed.

Backstage: Ridge Holland revealed his brand new Mercedes he received for attacking Adam Cole at NXT Takeover 31.

Ridge Holland def. Danny Burch

The two big men from UK had a hard-hitting encounter, with Holland coming out on top with the Emerald Flowsion. Burch tried his best but was unable to keep down the newest star on the block.

Post-match, Holland kept up the attack before Oney Lorcan made the save for his tag team partner. Holland and Lorcan exchanged blows until the referees separated them. Holland possibly blew his knee out, as the referees threw the X sign.

Johhny Gargano switched on his new TV and saw a video of Indi Hartwell saving LeRae on several occasion in the Battle Royal a while ago.

Shotzi Blackheart def. Xia Li

Blackheart came out with her tank designed in Halloween colors, as she is set to host the Halloween Havoc in three weeks’ time.

Li’s losing streak continued as Blackheart picked up an easy win with the Senton. Post-match, Boa came out and gave a piece of paper to Li with Chinese writing.

Rhea Ripley and Ember Moon def. Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez

Ember Moon’s first match in over a year saw her pick up the win with the Eclipse on Dakota Kai, as Ripley and Gonzalez were laid out at ringside. Moon and Ripley had some tension but eventually raised their arms together to celebrate the win.
