WWE NXT Results and Highlights

WWE NXT presented its Season Premiere episode last night, and the whole evening was filled with exciting matches and major surprises.

NXT Championship Match: Adam Cole defeated Matt Riddle: Both the individuals produced a fantastic encounter to begin the evening, with the fans starting a “This is Awesome” chant. Adam Cole hit the Last Shot to retain the title.

Post-match, Cole celebrated with the Undisputed Era until he was interrupted by a returning FINN BALOR! Balor said “As of now, Finn Balor is NXT”, which led to a “Holy S**t” chant from the crowd.

It will be interesting to see where Balor and Cole lead to next, and Balor’s return to the yellow brand is definitely a grand way to combat AEW.

Johnny Gargano defeated Shane Thorne: Former NXT Champion Gargano defeated Thorne in a decent match. Gargano received solid support from the Full Sail crowd throughout the encounter.

NXT Women’s Championship Match: Shayna Baszler defeated Candice LeRae: Baszler continued her mean streak in NXT with a dominant victory over LeRae.

Baszler retaining the title yet again leaves the NXT roster in a lurch. There are no credible babyfaces left in the division.

Pete Dunne defeated Danny Burch: Dunne continued his dominant run after moving from NXT UK, and defeated Burch in a hard-hitting battle. Post-match, Dunne was laid out by Damien Priest.

NXT Tag Team Titles Match: The Undisputed Era defeated The Street Profits: Street Profits returned to their brand for a shot at their former titles. A crazy match resulted in Kyle O’Reilly pinning Montez Ford for the win, with some help from Roderick Strong.

Similar to Baszler, The Undisputed Era have run through their division. It will be interesting to see who steps up for these championships.

Post Match, Adam Cole celebrated with the rest of Undisputed Era until he was interrupted for the second time in the night with a return. Former NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa made his much-awaited return to NXT, and teased a feud with the champion.

Cole, Balor, and Ciampa in the NXT title scene is a fantastic way to kick things off on the official two-hour debut of the show.
