WWE RAW Results and Highlights

2-on-1 Handicap Match | Drew McIntyre def. The OC: Winner of the Men’s Royal Rumble match, Drew McIntyre opened the show by challenging WWE Champion Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 36. The Scottish Psychopath made an open challenge to fight anyone and The OC’s Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson stepped up to his challenge.

McIntyre single-handedly outpowered the heel duo and delivered two Claymores to cover both men for the pinfall victory.

Post-match, McIntyre was blindsided by Lesnar who showed no mercy in destroying the Royal Rumble winner with a lethal F-5. The champion (w/ Paul Heyman) headed to the back as McIntyre tried to recover in the ring.

Rey Mysterio def. MVP: After a poor performance at Royal Rumble, Rey Mysterio scored a crucial victory over the returning MVP off a 619 in what stood to be the latter’s first WWE singles match in 11 years.

Aleister Black def. Kenneth Johnson: Aleister Black continued his winning streak by defeating local enhancement talent Kenneth Johnson in a quick squash bout.

Post-match, Black took responsibility for his Royal Rumble elimination and declared that he’s no longer waiting for people to knock on his door, rather, he’s now going to pick the fights himself.

RAW Tag Team Championship | Seth Rollins and Buddy Murphy (c) def. Samoa Joe and Kevin Owens: Shortly before the match, The Viking Raiders attacked AOP backstage to neutralize Seth Rollins and Buddy Murphy’s advantage. With the tag team champions watching the beatdown on the titantron, Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe marched to the ring to commence the showdown.

The medical team forced Joe from the match during the break due to an undisclosed injury, leaving Owens on his own. Owens planted the Monday Night Messiah with a stunner but an alert Murphy rolled the Prizefighter up to score the pinfall and retain the titles.

United States Championship | Humberto Carrillo def. Andrade via disqualification: Prior to being suspended for his violation of WWE’s wellness policy, Andrade managed to retain his title with timely assistance from his associate, Zelina Vega. Carrillo performed a top-rope moonsault on El Idolo and went for the pin but Vega broke it up resulting in a disqualification.

Post-match, an enraged Carrillo absolutely decimated Andrade; the young Luchador exposed the concrete at ringside and planted a helpless El Idolo with a devastating DDT onto the hard floor.

Charlotte Flair def. Asuka via disqualification: Winner of the Women’s Royal Rumble, Charlotte Flair cut a promo to address her plans for WrestleMania 36. She stated that she still hasn’t decided who she will challenge at the Show Of Shows. The Kabuki Warriors interrupted The Queen and simply attacked her to set up the booking.

Flair had locked Asuka in her iconic Figure 8 submission hold but Kairi Sane came to her friend’s rescue with a top rope splash on The Queen, thus causing the referee to disqualify The Empress. The Pirate Princess unloaded on the 10-time Women’s Champion who quickly fought back and neutralized her with a big boot.

24/7 Championship | Mojo Rawley def. No Way Jose: Mojo Rawley retained his title by destroying No Way Jose in under a minute.

Post-match, R-Truth, disguised as a hamburger, rolled him up to score his 34th 24/7 Title victory only to find himself sandwiched between Rawley and Riddick Moss. Rawley planted Truth with Tilt-a-whirl powerslam to recapture the gold.

Liv Morgan def. Lana: Rusev and Bobby Lashley were banned from ringside during the showdown between Liv Morgan and Lana that saw Daddio scoring the victory off a springboard Flatliner to further extend her dominance over The Ravishing Russian.

Erick Rowan def. Branden Vice: Erick Rowan’s next victim turned out to be local enhancement talent Branden Vice who was unlucky enough to be on the receiving end of two vicious Iron Claw chokeslams. Rowan put his opponent away quickly and headed to the back with his mystery pet cage.

Randy Orton brutalizes Edge: Edge returned to Monday Night RAW after making a shocking return at the Royal Rumble this past Sunday night, and cut an emotional promo where he said he was able to make the return only because of his grit.

Randy Orton interrupted and asked Edge what he thought of a potential Rated RKO return before dropping the Rated R Superstar with an RKO. Orton hit Edge with a chair and teased another devastating move by climbing the top rope after fastening the chair around the Hall of Famer’s neck. However, Orton changed his mind and delivered a brutal Conchairto instead, while the fans looked shocked.

The show ended with The Viper standing tall and the Hall of Famer lying motionless in the center of the ring.

Takeaways from Monday Night RAW

1. Will Charlotte Become a Grand Slam Champion

Charlotte Flair won the 2020 Royal Rumble but decided against announcing who she would challenge at WrestleMania this week. This brought out Asuka and Kairi Sane and when Charlotte was just about to defeat The Empress of Tomorrow, Kairi Sane attacked.

Charlotte is just a Women’s Tag Team Championship reign away from being a Grand Slam Champion and since her focus isn’t currently on WrestleMania, could she decide to take a detour on the Road To WrestleMania?

2. Liv Morgan’s Feud With Lana Is Far From Over

Liv Morgan and Lana finally went one-on-one this week on RAW after weeks of hiding behind their significant other. Interestingly, when Morgan isn’t teaming up with Rusev, she’s able to come out on top when she battles Lana since Morgan got the pin this week on RAW.

The fact that Morgan was able to defeat The Ravishing Russian means that this feud is far from over, but it will be interesting to see how the men are re-introduced into the rivalry next week on RAW.

3. Randy Orton vs. Edge In Saudi Arabia?

It’s taken Edge almost a decade to heal from the career-ending neck surgery that cut his wrestling dream short back in 2011 and finally, The Rated R Superstar returned to RAW this week to talk about the journey that brought him here. The Viper couldn’t even give Edge tonight to allow him to soak in the crowd once again since he made his way to the ring and tricked him into an attack.

It was sickening that Orton decided to target Edge’s neck with a steel chair and means that WWE is obviously fast-tracking this feud since they made it this personal this quickly. Orton obviously holds a grudge because Edge eliminated him from the Rumble and now the former Tag Team partners could be about to collide in just under a month’s time in Saudi Arabia.

4. The Main Event Of WrestleMania 36 Is Now Set

Drew McIntyre finally realized his dream when he won the Men’s Royal Rumble match on Sunday night and he wasn’t going to keep anyone waiting when it came to announcing who he was going to challenge. Brock Lesnar will be defending his WWE Championship against The Scottish star at the biggest show of the year in April, and it appears that the build-up has already begun.

With 10-weeks to go until WrestleMania, will both of these men make it to Tampa Bay?
