WWE Raw Results and Highlights
The Beast meets The Psychopath: WWE Champion Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman opened this week’s show with Heyman dismissing Drew McIntyre as a legible opponent. McIntyre interrupted the promo and ended up hitting a Claymore Kick to Lesnar inside the ring. McIntyre was not yet done as he delivered two more Claymores when Lesnar was at the end of the stage, returning backstage.
Raw Tag Team Championship | The Street Profits def. Seth Rollins and Buddy Murphy: AOP got involved earlier in the match, but got eventually thrown out by the referee. Kevin Owens took advantage of the chaos and hit a stunner to Seth Rollins inside the ring while the referee was not looking, and Montez Ford hit the frog splash for the win.
24/7 Championship | Riddick Moss def. Ricochet: Last Thursday, Ricochet was fighting Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship and this week he was fighting for the 24/7 Championship. While the booking did not make any sense, Moss delivered a neck breaker to an already beatdown Ricochet (from last week) to retain the title.
Aleister Black vs. Karl Anderson | Black vs. Luke Gallows | Black vs. AJ Styles: Styles told Black that in order to fight him Black has to go through Anderson and then Gallows. Black defeated Anderson with a Black Mass but Gallows attacked him before the bell and continued the beatdown into the match resulting in a disqualification and The OC delivered a Magic Killer to the Dutch Destroyer.
Black refused to give up and fought Styles who delivered a Phenomenal Forearm and pinned Black with Undertaker’s signature style for the win.
Liv Morgan def. Ruby Riott: Sarah Logan was the guest referee, and though she was impartial, she had to eventually get involved in the match. Riott and Logan got into an altercation when Logan did a slow count after Riott accidentally head-butted her. Morgan took advantage of the chaos and rolled up Riott for the win after Logan made a fast count. Post-match, Logan stood tall after laying waste to both Riott and Morgan.
Shayna Baszler def. Kairi Sane: Asuka, who was originally slated to face Baszler, was pulled out of the match due to a reported injury and Kairi Sane fought her instead. Both the former NXT Champions fought toe to toe but Sane eventually fell for the Kirifuda Clutch submission move, handing a victory to the Queen of Spades ahead of the Elimination Chamber PPV.
Rey Mysterio and Humberto Carrillo def. Andrade and Angel Garza: The heels worked well in the beginning, isolating Carrillo but Mysterio turned the match around once he was tagged in. Rey hit a double 619 with both heels on the ropes and Carrillo delivered a beautiful moonsault and pinned Andrade to secure the win.
Randy Orton attacks Beth Phoenix: Phoenix returned to Monday Night Raw to update the WWE Universe on the medical status of her husband Edge, after he suffered a brutal attack in the hands of Randy Orton earlier this year. Orton said he attacked Edge so that he doesn’t have to wrestle and put his life on the line again as he did several years ago.
Orton said he loved Edge more than she did to which she responded with a slap to his face. Phoenix then went for a kick but Orton immediately countered it and hit a devastating RKO, leaving The Glamazon motionless in the ring. The show went off the air with medical professionals and other wrestlers trying to help the Hall of Famer.
WWE Raw Takeaways
1. Seth Rollins vs. Kevin Owens?
Kevin Owens cost Seth Rollins and Buddy Murphy the Raw Tag Team Championships this week on Raw after he ran in and delivered the Stunner to Rollins while the referee was distracted.
Rollins and Murphy are looking at a rematch at Elimination Chamber but it appears that the bigger picture will see Rollins take on Kevin Owens at WrestleMania since the current storyline definitely needs a payoff.
2. Resident SuperZero?
Ricochet helped Drew McIntyre to eliminate Brock Lesnar from the Royal Rumble and went on to earn his shot at the WWE Championship in Saudi Arabia last week, but a lot has changed for WWE’s resident superhero in the past week.
Ricochet was destroyed by Lesnar in a matter of minutes at Super ShowDown and this week on Raw he was pinned by Riddick Moss as he looked to lift the 24/7 Championship. This was arguably one of the biggest shocks of the night and leaves Ricochet in an awkward position heading into WrestleMania.
3. The Riott Squad Is Officially Over
This weekend, Liv Morgan, Ruby Riott and Sarah Logan all step inside the Elimination Chamber for a chance to challenge for the Raw Women’s Championship at WrestleMania.
Ahead of the show, Morgan and Riott faced off with Logan as the special guest referee and made it clear that The Riott Squad was a thing of the past. With Natalya, Shayna Baszler and Asuka making up the numbers inside the Chamber, there will definitely be some combustible elements inside the structure.
4. A Step Too Far?
Randy Orton has never been a superstar that knows his own limits, but even The Viper has to know that he went too far when he RKO’d Edge’s wife.
Orton has made many of his feuds personal in the past and at one point even attacked John Cena’s father, but this is low even for The Viper. This feud has now reached a new level of personal and it will be interesting to see Edge’s reaction to this attack when he finally returns to WWE TV.
