WWE Raw Results, August 31, 2020

The Payback fallout episode of WWE Raw kicked off with Randy Orton cutting a promo on how he deserves to face Drew McIntyre at Clash of Champions. Keith Lee cut him off and taunted him about his loss at Payback, but Dolph Ziggler blindsided Lee and dropped him with a DDT.

Keith Lee def. Dolph Ziggler: Lee qualified for the triple threat in the main event to determine the number one contender after countering a superkick attempt into the Spirit Bomb for the win.

Demi Burnett appeared with Viking Raiders and Cedric Alexander, giving a kiss to Ivar for good luck before his match against The Hurt Business.

Mickie James def. Lana: James quickly defeated Lana with the Mick Kick, as she teased a possible match with RAW Women’s Champion Asuka.

Randy Orton def. Kevin Owens: Orton was seen coming out of Aleister Black’s room, before the match. Black destroyed Owens before the match could even begin, and Orton dropped the lifeless body of Owens with an RKO for the win.

MVP hosted the VIP Lounge and had harsh words for Apollo Crews. Cedric Alexander and Viking Raiders appeared, as MVP tried to recruit Cedric yet again. Cedric didn’t budge and the babyfaces attacked the Hurt Business.

Cedric Alexander and Viking Raiders def. The Hurt Business: Cedric picked up the win for his team after he countered MVP and rolled him up for the three count. Post-match, MVP smiled and applauded Cedric, and stopped his team from a further brawl. Backstage, The Hurt Business attacked Cedric as Apollo Crews and Ricochet made the save.

Ruby Riott and Liv Morgan def. The IIconics: The babyfaces picked up the win and became the No.1 contenders to the tag titles, while the IIconics were forced to end their team after the loss.

Seth Rollins def. Dominik Mysterio: Rollins shunned away Murphy before the match, while Dominik attacked Murphy on his way out. Rollins picked up the final spot in the main-event after hitting Dominik with the Stomp.

Post-match, the Mysterio family got emotional backstage as the Messiah delivered yet another Stomp for good measure.

Raw Underground: Titus O’Neil made his debut on RAW Underground and took out two talents before Riddick Moss got the better of him.

Akira Tozawa was stopped by the security, who was a referee in disguise, as R-Truth pinned Tozawa to win his 39th 24/7 title.

Tornado Tag Match | Street Profits vs. Andrade and Angel Garza: The non-title match was interrupted by members of the RETRIBUTION who attacked everyone in the ring.

Raw Underground: Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir destroyed a few individuals before Peyton Royce pushed Billie Kay into the ring and got manhandled by Duke.

Demi Burnett asked Garza why he ran away when RETRIBUTION attacked. Garza said he wanted to save Burnett. RETRIBUTION attacked again and Garza abandoned Burnett.

Randy Orton def. Seth Rollins and Keith Lee: Orton picked up the win and won the right to challenge McIntyre at Clash of Champions. Orton pinned Lee after an RKO, as Lee was slow to follow-up after his Spirit Bomb on Rollins.
