Drew McIntyre’s positive COVID-19 diagnosis meant that this week’s episode of Raw was forced to make several changes the day of the show. Triple H was the headline act this week with rumors suggesting that The Game could wrestle for the first time in more than a year.
1. Opening Segment: The Viper Challenges Triple H
The King of Kings kicked off this week’s show before he was interrupted by Randy Orton. The Viper looked for a handout from his long-time friend, but following his recent actions toward legends, The Game didn’t seem in a giving mood. The Cerebral Assassin was then challenged to a match by The Viper, and after a personal back and forth, Triple H accepted.
2. Lacey Evans def. Charlotte
After their issues that arose between Ric Flair and Lacey Evans last week on Raw, Flair had a point to prove this week against The Sassy Southern Belle. Evans dedicated the match to Ric Flair and Charlotte stated that he was at home, but he made his way to the ring mid-way through the match and went on to help Evans by putting her foot on the rope following Natural Selection. Flair then tripped his daughter and held her leg down while Evans secured the win.
Video Promo: Drew McIntyre sent a message to the WWE Universe regarding his recent COVID-19 diagnosis where he made it clear that he was one of the lucky ones but fans should remain vigilant and remain safe.
3. Jaxson Ryker def. Jeff Hardy, Hardy def. Elias
The original match was set to see Elias take on Hardy but The Drifter said he was injured and sent Ryker who defeated Hardy in seconds. Hardy then challenged Elias to a match.
Despite Elias making it clear that he wanted Ryker to get involved, the star failed to help him and he was pinned following a Swanton Bomb.
4. Keith Lee and Sheamus def. The Miz and John Morrison
After laying down the challenge backstage and despite their recent issues, Sheamus and Keith Lee accepted and took on Mr. Money in the Bank and Morrison in tag team action. Mid-way through the match, Lee threw Morrison into the corner and after running into him, the entire top rope snapped.
Lee and Sheamus were able to co-exist, but there was a minute in the end when Lee had the win in the bag before Sheamus tagged in and hit the Brogue Kick on Morrison.
5. Keith Lee def. Sheamus
Despite co-existing, when Raw returned from an ad-break, Lee and Sheamus were at odds and decided to face off one-on-one. The match seemed to take place on the fly and saw Keith Lee come out on top following a Spirit Bomb. After the match, the two men hugged it out.
Drew McIntyre then made an appearance via a pre-recorded video where he accepted Goldberg’s Royal Rumble challenge.
6. T-Bar def. Xavier Woods
Kofi Kingston was absent from this week’s episode of Raw, which allowed RETRIBUTION to cause a distraction mid-way through their match and help T-Bar to defeat Woods with Eyes Wide Shut.
7. United States Championship: Bobby Lashley(c) def. Riddle
Lashley jumped Riddle before the bell and busted open his lip. This led to an easy match for Lashley and he forced Riddle to tap to The Hurt Lock in minutes, following a distraction from MVP. After the match, Riddle challenged MVP since he was unable to beat Lashley.
8. Riddle def. MVP via DQ
After just minutes of a back and forth, Lashley interfered in the match and delivered a spear to Riddle which gave The Original Bro the win via disqualification.
9. AJ Styles def. Drew Gulak
In a backstage segment with WWE Producer Adam Pearce, it was agreed that Gulak would be added to the Royal Rumble match if he wins the match against AJ Styles. Gulak tried for several quick roll-ups but his Royal Rumble hopes were squashed by a Phenomenal Forearm.
10. Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler def. Mandy Rose and Dana Brooke
Rose and Brooke wanted to send a message to the former Women’s Tag Team Champions ahead of the Royal Rumble, but instead, Rose was forced to tap to the Kirofuda Clutch.
11. Randy Orton vs Triple H – No Contest
This wasn’t technically a sanctioned match, it was just a fight and The Game decided to wrestle in jeans. Triple H looked to be heading to the ring with his trusty sledgehammer when the lights went down. The hammer then caught fire in The Games’ hand before he disappeared into darkness.
Alexa Bliss returned and shot a fireball into Orton’s face before disappearing again.
