WWE Raw Results, September 21: RETRIBUTION In-Ring Debut, Randy Orton Returns

Clash of Champions takes place in just six days’ time and it appears that there were still a number of matches to be announced on this week’s episode of Raw. RETRIBUTION had also promised some kind of unmasking ahead of Sunday’s pay-per-view.

Retribution Reveal Their Identity

This week’s show kicked off with RETRIBUTION confirming that four of their members were Mia Yim, Dominik Dijakovic, Mercedes Martinez and Dio Madden and cut a promo about their rise to Monday Night Raw.

There was still a member of the group that wore a full face mask and decided not to reveal their identity, but before the group could make their point they were interrupted by The Hurt Business.

After more members of RETRIBUTION arrived, a beat down began and the former NXT stars were able to send a clear message.

No:1 Contender Match for Raw Tag Team Championship: Angel Garza and Andrade def. Humberto Carrillo and Dominik and Seth Rollins and Murphy

Seth Rollins walked out on Murphy midway through the match and Angel Garza was able to hit The Wing Clipper on The Disciple before Humberto Carrillo could make it into the ring to break up the three count.

This win means that Garza and Andrade will challenge for the Raw Tag Team Championships at Clash of Champions.

Backstage: Ahead of the KO Show, RETRIBUTION cut another strange promo which made it clear that the group was looking to change things on Monday Night Raw.

The KO Show

Shane McMahon, who was the guest on this week’s show, and Kevin Owens made reference to the fact that they have a long history which includes the fact that Owens was the reason that McMahon was fired from SmackDown last year.

This was before Dabba-Kato made his way to the ring, trying to intimidate Kevin Owens after the beat down he handed him two weeks ago.

Owens then stated that he would face off against Kato in the future before slapping him and bring out Braun Strowman. The two big men looked to thrown down on Raw, but Shane McMahon was able to maintain control between the two stars.

While Kevin Owens was distracted, Aleister Black attacked him from behind and bounced him off the ring post several times.

Backstage: RETRIBUTION attacked a cameraman, Titus O’Neil, and Humberto Carrillo as they continued to attempt to hijack Raw.

Keith Lee vs. Drew McIntyre, Randy Orton Returns

After their match was interrupted by RETRIBUTION last week and there was no definitive finish, the two men faced off again this week with the same stipulation, but just as the outcome was about to be determined, Randy Orton invaded the ring and attacked McIntyre with two steel chair shots to the back. Orton then held the steel chair against McIntyre’s jaw and delivered a Punt Kick to Keith Lee.

After the match, Orton delivered a promo where he talked about the Ambulance match at Clash of Champions, seemingly accepting McIntyre’s challenge and claiming that the ambulance symbolizes his 14th World Championship.

Backstage: Billie Kay approached Asuka seemingly trying to pitch a reason why she should fight for the Raw Women’s Championship but was interrupted by Peyton Royce who took her chance away. Asuka then told Royce that she is ready for her the same night.

Zelina Vega def. Mickie James

After Mickie James came up short in her quest for the Raw Women’s Championship last week, she was given another chance at the title this week when she took on Zelina Vega.

It was a scrappy match that saw Vega pick up the win with a backstabber to claim her first Raw Women’s Championship shot.

24/7 Championship: R-Truth and Akira Tozawa’s back and forth for the 24/7 Championship continued with the two stars at the beach and it appeared that Tozawa was eaten by a shark.

Backstage: The Hurt Business attacked some of the members of RETRIBUTION and seemingly garnered some revenge for the attack that kicked off the night.

Apollo Crews def. Cedric Alexander

Ahead of the match, Cedric Alexander made it clear that he had just as many issues with Apollo Crews as he did with Ricochet and stated that he didn’t care about him or his kids.

Alexander made the decision to roll out of the ring and get in Ricochet’s face which ended up costing the match since Crews rolled him up when he stepped back into the ring.

Crews faces off against Bobby Lashley for the United States Championship at Clash of Champions and ahead of the match, Lashley sent a message by locking in The Hurt Lock on his challenger.

Rey Mysterio’s Paternity Questioned Again After 15 Years: Who’s Your PAPI?

Seth Rollins approached the ring with an envelope and said that he had been digging, and revealed that Rey Mysterio isn’t actually Aalyah’s father.

Mysterio tried to defend his daughter but when he called her naive, she walked away followed by her brother and mother.

Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax def. Lana and Natalya

It was a match that was over quickly with Lana tapping to the Kirofuda without Jax ever tagging in. Lana was then put through the announce table once again as the Women’s Tag Team Champions looked to send a message to Liv Morgan and Ruby Riott who was at the commentary desk.

Peyton Royce def. Asuka via Disqualification

Peyton Royce was given a match against Asuka after her ambush backstage earlier in the night, and The Empress was heading for victory before Zelina Vega interfered and handed Peyton Royce the disqualification victory.

Backstage: Buddy Murphy approached Aalyah and apologized for recent actions.

Raw Underground

Earlier in the show, Dolph Ziggler defeated Arturo Ruas after locking in a rear-naked choke. Riddick Moss defeated Erik from The Viking Raiders with some ground and pound.

This week’s main event on Raw Underground saw Braun Strowman take on Dabba-Kato. The Monster Among Men won the match easily, after dropping Kato to the mat, ending the undefeated streak of the 7ft behemoth.

The Hurt Business vs. RETRIBUTION

Bobby Lashley took the fight to Retribution in their in-ring debut and looked like he had the match won when he locked in The Hurt Lock but the rest of RETRIBUTION attacked and the match ended in a no contest.

Drew McIntyre and other Raw Superstars made their way to the ring to help fight off RETRIBUTION, which was when The Viper took his time to strike and deliver an RKO to the WWE Champion, sending a message before their match at Clash of Champions pay-per-view this Sunday.
