WWE SmackDown made its debut at the ThunderDome at the Amway Center, Orlando, Florida, and featured an Intercontinental Championship match between AJ Styles and Jeff Hardy, SmackDown Tag Team Championship match and more.

The go-home episode before SummerSlam opened with Vince McMahon welcoming everyone to the show. The Fiend appeared and taunted McMahon before he was interrupted by the Universal Champion Braun Strowman. The Fiend and Strowman had a staredown before Retribution showed up and attacked Strowman. Fiend disappeared, as the SmackDown locker room rushed to the ring to make the save.

Big E def. Sheamus: Big E took advantage of the brawl going at ringside between King Corbin and Matt Riddle to roll up the former WWE Champion for the win.

Medical team attended to Jeff Hardy’s knee as he was attacked during the segment with Retribution earlier.

SmackDown Tag Team Championship | Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro def. Lucha House Party: Flanked by a returning Kalisto at ringside, the luchadors tried their best but Cesaro rolled up Dorado to retain.

Post-match, tension heated up between Dorado and Kalisto as Metalik got in the middle to calm things down. It seemed like WWE is teasing a breakup of the tag team.

AJ Styles was revealed to be Hardy’s attacker, and he said he caught up in the heat of the moment while attacking the Retribution members.

Mandy Rose talked about her friendship with Sonya Deville and said she wishes to get back together with Deville again and put all their rivalry behind them.

Corey Graves interviewed Sasha Banks and Bayley before their match against Asuka at SummerSlam. Naomi interrupted the duo and offered to face both the stars in a Beat the Clock challenge.

Sasha Banks def. Naomi: Banks ended up picking the win in under four minutes after applying the Banks Statement.

Naomi def. Bayley: Naomi picked up the win over Bayley with the Rear View in 1:44 minutes.

After Bayley was confirmed to face Asuka first at SummerSlam, The Empress of Tomorrow entered the ring and attacked both the champions before dancing off to end the segment.

Sonya Deville slapped Dana Brooke, who walked up to her backstage to check on her after last week’s events. Deville said it was disrespectful to bring up her personal issues on the show. The Pride Fighter entered the arena and cut a vicious promo, challenging Rose to a Loser Leaves WWE match at SummerSlam.

Nikki Cross cut a promo backstage, and felt that Alexa Bliss has changed over the past few weeks, and something terrible is on the cards.

Intercontinental Championship Match | Jeff Hardy def. AJ Styles(c): A limping Jeff Hardy, who managed to get clearance from the medical team, somehow took down the overconfident Styles with the Swanton Bomb to win his fifth IC title.

Bray Wyatt’s Firefly Fun House episode was disrupted by Braun Strowman who attacked Wyatt, throwing him off a platform onto the concrete floor. Wyatt was taken in an ambulance but later emerged from the ambulance as The Fiend.
