The build-up to TLC: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs continued this week on SmackDown as more matches were set to be made official.

This week’s episode of SmackDown began with a tribute to Pat Patterson who passed away earlier this week at the age of 79.

Kevin Owens Wants Title Match at TLC

Roman Reigns headed out to address Kevin Owens’ after he was able to defeat Jey Uso last week even though it was via disqualification. Reigns belittled Kayla Braxton regarding her questions before Heyman stepped in, to sum up, the situation.

Kevin Owens had heard enough and headed out to the ring to pitch a match between the two men at TLC. Reigns seemingly refused when he told him he would face him tonight instead because there was a woman (Kayla Braxton) in the ring.

Natalya def. Bayley

After their issues, last week on SmackDown, Bayley, and Natalya went one on one this week, with Bianca Belair on commentary. After a short encounter, Bayley tapped to the sharpshooter and was then mocked after the match by Belair.

6-Man Tag Match: Daniel Bryan, Rey Mysterio, and Big E def. Dolph Ziggler, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Sami Zayn

Following the shock passing of WWE Hall of Famer Pat Patterson, WWE presented the Pat Patterson tribute match. This was seemingly a thrown together match but Bryan and Zayn still had some animosity leftover from last week. Incidentally, the match came down to the two men and Bryan was able to secure a victory over the Champion with a small package.

After the match, the two teams faced off before Dolph Ziggler received a Big Ending, a 619, and an atomic drop.

Carmella Gets Title Shot at TLC: After weeks of attacks from behind, Sasha Banks and Carmella were finally part of a sit-down interview. After the conversation got personal, Banks decided to hand Carmella a shot at the SmackDown Women’s Championship at TLC: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs in a few week’s time.

King Corbin def. Murphy, Forgotten Sons Return

After becoming a victim of the numbers game last week, Corbin brought his own back up to the ring to ensure that The Mysterio Family was neutralized. The two men were once known as The Forgotten Sons but have now seemingly been given a new gimmick.

Wesley Blake and Steve Cutler later made their presence known in the closing stages of the match when they attacked both Mysterio and Dominik at ringside. The distraction allowed Corbin to hit the End of Days for the victory.

Kevin Owens and Otis def. Roman Reigns and Jey Uso via DQ

Roman Reigns warned Uso about the consequences of shouting his mouth off earlier in the night and it appeared that this was a handicap match for the former Tag Team Champion.

Reigns finally made his way to the ring in his own time and helped his cousin overcome the numbers game. There were obvious issues between Uso and Reigns throughout with Roman forcing Uso to get down off the top rope at one point. Owens took advantage and hit a stunner before Reigns interfered and locked in the guillotine to force the DQ.

After the match, Jey Uso and Roman Reigns assaulted Owens with a chair before Reigns hit Jey with a chair after he decided to hit a splash on Owens.
