There were still several Survivor Series spots up for grabs on the penultimate episode of SmackDown ahead of next weekend’s show. The family feud surrounding Roman Reigns remained one of the blue brand’s biggest talking points as Jey Uso remained on the same page as his cousin.

Drew McIntyre Interrupts The Tribal Cheif

This week’s episode of SmackDown began with The Tribal Chief and his special counsel Paul Heyman where he talked about making people around him relevant. Reigns talked about facing Randy Orton at Survivor Series next weekend and seemingly forgot that Drew McIntyre could be standing across the ring from him in nine days’ time.

Interestingly, this brought out former WWE Champion from Raw, Drew McIntyre, who came to correct Reigns regarding his upcoming opponent. McIntyre reminded Reigns that he eliminated him from the Royal Rumble back in January and has been The Man in WWE since.

Things got heated between the two men before Jey Uso ran in and took the mic from his cousin and set up a match with The Scottish Star for later in the night.

Backstage: Roman Reigns shouted at Jey Uso and made it clear that he shouldn’t have stepped into his business and made a match for himself.

Intercontinental Championship: Sami Zayn def. Apollo Crews via Count Out

Zayn preached that he was being sabotaged before the match because he wasn’t told about his opponent until the last minute. Even though Sami Zayn wasn’t happy about defending his Championship, he was smart enough to find a loophole when he was able to get Apollo Crews stuck in the apron so that he was unable to answer the ten count and was then counted out. Zayn was able to retain his Championship following a technicality.

Backstage: Drew McIntyre accepted the match against Jey Uso and told Roman Reigns to get a front-row seat.

Backstage: Rey Mysterio talked about his feud with Seth Rollins and brought his entire family with him. Mysterio stated that it would be the final chapter in his feud with the former WWE Champion.

Carmella Attacks Sasha Banks, Again

Sasha Banks came out to address her issues with Carmella after she was attacked last week on SmackDown. Bayley provided the distraction so Carmella was able to superkick and then hit the sit-out facebuster on The Boss for the second week in a row.

Otis def. Dolph Ziggler

Backstage: Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode joked about Otis’ recent run of bad luck which forced the former Mr. Money in the Bank winner to flip a table.

The match was seemingly set up after their backstage issues and saw Otis kicked out of the ZigZag. Interference from Robert Roode wasn’t enough to save Ziggler who was hit with a Vader Bomb.

Backstage: Chad Gable offered to become Otis’ mentor and show him how to control his alpha.

No Holds Barred Match: Rey Mysterio def. Seth Rollins

This feud has taken over WWE throughout the past few months and finally, it came to an end this week on SmackDown. Interestingly, Aalyah and Murphy were on opposite sides for the match since Murphy rejoined The Messiah. It was a brutal encounter that included a powerbomb through the table from Rollins to Mysterio. Rollins took the protector from the steel chair and tried to take out Mysterio’s eye before Dominik dragged him out of the ring.

Murphy looked to be helping Rollins until he turned into a knee which allowed Mysterio to deliver the 619 and the splash for the victory. After the match, Mysterio gave Murphy his approval and shook his hand and Dominik then followed suit.

Backstage: Natalya wanted Adam Pearce to add her to the SmackDown Women’s Team. Instead, he noted that there was a triple threat match for a place on the Survivor Series Women’s team next.

Survivor Series Qualifying Match: Liv Morgan def. Natalya, Tamina, and Chelsea Green

This was originally supposed to be a triple threat match until Chelsea Green was added at the last minute. Morgan played a huge role in the match and had an interesting back and forth with Natalya before she was able to pin Tamina to qualify for the Survivor Series team.

Backstage: The Street Profits and The Big E continued to build towards the match between the Raw and SmackDown Tag Team Champions at Survivor Series.

Drew McIntyre def. Jey Uso

After their confrontation earlier in the night, McIntyre and Uso collided in this week’s main event. After a hard-fought battle between the two men, McIntyre was going for the Claymore before Uso rolled out of the ring. Roman Reigns made his way down to the ring and Uso was able to take advantage of the distraction.

Uso was about to head into the ring and defeat McIntyre when he was told my Reigns that he had to make McIntyre understand. McIntyre was still able to deliver a Claymore to pick up the win.

After the match, McIntyre got in Reigns’ face and asked if he understood him now as the show went off the air.
