This week’s SmackDown featured Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman addressing the WWE Universe after the shocking turn of events at WWE Payback, Women’s Tag Team Championship Match and a Fatal 4-Way Match to determine the No. 1 Contender to the Universal Championship.

Paul Heyman Hypes Up Roman Reigns

This week’s SmackDown opened with Paul Heyman hyping up the heel Reigns. Reigns took the mic and said he did exactly what he promised at Payback and will do the same at Clash of Champions. Jey Uso ran into his cousin Reigns backstage, and the duo shared a friendly moment, with Uso being skeptical of Reigns’ partnership with Heyman.

Heavy Machinery def. The Miz and John Morrison

Otis hit the Vader Bomb on Miz to win the match for his team, and become No.1 contenders for the Tag Team titles. Post-match, John Morrison stole Otis’ Money in the Bank briefcase and ran away with it. Later in the show, Morrison and Miz found food in Otis’ briefcase, as Otis revealed the real contract to be inside his lunchbox.

Sheamus Destroys Big E

Big E ran into the parking lot to greet Xavier Woods on birthday, but it turned out to be a ruse, as he got blindsided by Sheamus who hit Big E with a White Noise on a car’s windshield. Sheamus cut a promo backstage and said if Big E wants to reach the heights in WWE, he will have to be more vigilant from next time, or else he’ll keep getting attacked out of nowhere.

Adam Pearce confirmed that Big E won’t be a part of the Fatal Four Way later in the night, as Paul Heyman approached him for a word in private.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship: Bayley Turns Heel on Sasha Banks

Earlier in the show, Banks and Bayley were interviewed backstage and the duo said they had never seen the team of Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler, which is the reason they lost. Banks defended Bayley, who tapped out at Payback.

Nia Jax delivered a crossbody on both the stars from the top rope which helped them retain the titles. Post-match, medics checked on Banks’ injured leg, but Bayley took the matter in her hands and viciously attacked Banks and turning heel on her best friend. Bayley delivered a stomp from the top rope, with a steel chair around Banks’ neck to end the segment.

Who’s the Real Intercontinental Champion?

Sami Zayn made his entrance with the IC title and asked to be announced as the champion. Jeff Hardy and AJ Styles joined the fray and the trio exchanged words before attacking each other. Zayn got the last laugh with a Helluva Kick and the heel stood tall to end the segment.

A vignette aired for a female superstar, who was shown walking in heels. Rumor has it that it’s a makeover for a current superstar.

Firefly Fun House: Alexa Bliss Teasing a Turn?

Bray Wyatt promised to introduce a new friend in the Firefly Fun House next week. Alexa Bliss was spotted backstage where she apologized to Nikki Cross for breaking her mug a week ago, before getting the blank look in her eyes and snapping into a different character. She had more dreadlocks in her hair which showed that she is getting closer to turning into her own version of The Fiend. All this while, Rambling Rabbit was in the background watching the conversation.

Jey Uso is the No.1 Contender for Universal Title

Earlier, in a backstage segment, Jey Uso walked up to Reigns and thanked him for getting a spot in the main event while Reigns said that he should be thanking Heyman for making it happen.

All the four competitors in the main-event got into a major brawl before the match could even get started. Jey Uso picked up the win and the right to challenge his cousin at Clash of Champions after hitting the Frogsplash on Riddle for the win.
