Just Too Tired to Mark Out…
JOE! JOE! JOE! JOE! The Samoan Submission Machine returned and immediately issued a challenge to Roman Reigns at Backlash. This was a logical next step for Roman Reigns, as since his program with Brock Lesnar, he now finds himself in this awkward position atop, but not on top of, the totem pole. And looking at the remaining guys, Samoa Joe emerges as one of a few that can legitimately claim that he could beat Roman Reigns (he only ever lost to Roman once on the first RAW of 2018, as far as we can remember). Besides, feuding with Roman was a nice start for Joe’s return.
Half a RAW in, and we had already had 2 great matches considered settled for Backlash. We liked this. Keep it going, people.
The Alliance Is Real
Bray Wyatt and Matt Hardy are a unit now, and we absolutely love it. These two personalities might be better together than they were at opposite ends. Every weird action of either man seemed to be amplified by another abnormal gesture by the other, and as far as tonight went, this partnership is working.
“Best Friends” Fought for a Job
And neither got it, as the pair were such formidable foes that neither was able to recover in time for the 10-count. This booking decision emphasized how evenly matched Sami and Kevin are, as well as creating intrigue around their employment situation. Next week’s Shake-up will be another factor to consider. Will they be involved in it? For sure, but exactly how remains to be seen. As for now, even if they showed up on RAW to fight one another every other week just to try and impress Kurt Angle, we would not mind. Despite the lack of a clear winner, their match tonight was great.
