Kurt Angle one-ups Corbin while something happens in the women’s division

AOP def. The Conquistador: The AOP whooped the Conquistador who everyone assumed was Kurt Angle but it turned out be some random wrestler. Kurt Angle in his holiday clothes attacked Corbin. It was fun seeing Angle lay out Corbin with an Angle Slam while wearing shorts.

We don’t know how a match between Corbin and Angle will play out but everything that has happened over the last few weeks has been great and so much better that whatever Angle had been forced to do as the GM.

Natalya def. Ruby Riott via Disqualification: A strange match between Ruby Riott and Natalya followed. The Boss and Hug connection were there as backups. An all-out brawl broke out but without much context, all this feels pointless. This has great potential only if WWE creative take a bit more of an interest in it. Having said that, it was fun seeing six women beat the crap out of each other.

Apollo Crews and Elias could have something going on

For years we had been complaining that Apollo Crews was being underutilized and it seems WWE has taken note of it. Elias once again masterfully riled up the crowd before being interrupted by Crews. It is clear that Crews has been working on something. His mic skills and overall ring presence have improved. The match that followed was short but to the point. This can be great for both men and this was a great way to set the ball rolling.

What just happened?

The Shield def. Braun Strowman, Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre: By this point we were almost certain that Ambrose was going to turn on the Shield and he almost did when he tried to deliver a Dirty Deeds to Rollins.

It was mixed up nicely with the Shield working like they used to in the old days. In the end the group that broke up was the Dogs of War. Rollins found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time multiple times leading Ambrose to feel like it was all being done on purpose but the turning point was Strowman getting accidentally Claymore kicked by McIntyre.

The Shield delivered their Triple Powerbomb to pick up the win while the Dogs of War imploded on each other. This match created more questions than it answered and it was just awesome.

Overall Review: This was in no way a perfect show but parts of it were on fire. The Shield still seems to be on icy waters while McIntyre turning on his team was an unexpected turn of events.

Where does this all lead to? Ambrose still has plenty to be miffed about. Both his stablemates have matches at the Crown Jewel while he does not. All this is creating an intriguing storyline worth investing time in. If only WWE could figure out how to deal with their mid card.

Apart from the Shield thing and whatever is happening between DX and the Brothers of Destruction, there is little else going on in RAW. It was great to see Angle back. Hopefully, the rest of the show can be built up strongly from now on.
