Finally we got a RAW that was thrilling and we saw some nice storytelling. Let’s dive right into it all.

Corbin is put in the spot

Normally we hate seeing the authority parade their powers on RAW but it was totally bearable this time around. It was possible because it wasn’t a legend like Kurt Angle or Mick Foley who was being demeaned. Instead it was Baron Corbin who received a mouthful for making RAW chaotic by putting himself in a title match and being unable to control the Shield.

Triple H politely excusing himself was a funny touch. Having said that, we still hate Stephanie when she gets all bossy. Angle’s return also seems imminent as there was a brief mention of him. A nice way to start RAW.

The Shield experiences some mind games

This was an awesome segment. Ambrose was cheered massively and he is easily the hottest member of the Shield right now despite not holding any titles. The duo of Ziggler and McIntyre tried to focus on to drive a wedge between the Shield brethren. You could see that Ambrose was considering the facts but for now he stays part of the Shield.

Reigns was booed massively every time he opened his mouth and it would be beneficial if WWE pulled off a swerve and changed him heel. Another great segment that finally tackles the ambiguous nature of Ambrose’s feelings about his treatment in the Shield head on.

Finn Balor is reduced to a joke it seems

Finn Balor defeated Jinder Mahal: Any match involving Alicia Fox was always going to be a downer. Throw in Jinder Mahal and Samir Singh doing silly stuff and you have a triple threat of doom. Balor picked up the win which was fun and Bayley hitting Samir with a Bayley-to-Belly was also great to watch. Even though this was the most interesting thing Bayley has done in weeks, it was still disappointing.

Balor deserves so much more and so does Bayley. We know this was WWE’s idea of hyping up the Mixed Match Challenge but they are crapping on the bigger picture here by under-utilizing some of the best talent they have.

The Riott Squad win yet again

The Riot Squad defeated The Bella Twins & Natalya:This wasn’t a match we expected to enjoy but somehow we did. The Riott Squad have begun growing on us. Hopefully this leads to a long term thing with them rather than a flash in the pan. The triple suplex was a nice spot and this match was fun and could have been great had it been a little longer.

This is setting up something for Evolution and the women’s division sorely lacks good tag teams and stables. It feels good when WWE surprises us like this.

Note: It is being reported that Liv Morgan could be legitimately injured during the match.
