WWE SmackDown Live Results & Review: August 14, 2018

The New Day Reign Supreme

This was easily the best match of the night but again the Bludgeon Brothers did not cause any havoc before, during or after the match. It is like WWE is the least bit interested in building up their match.

As far as this particular tag match was concerned it was awesome from the very beginning. There was plenty of fast paced action that didn’t slow down one bit. As a match in itself, it was great and gives the New Day some credibility as they face the Bludgeon Brothers on Sunday. A little stare down between the two teams would have been very helpful though.

Rusev Is Again Relegated to the Kick-off Show

Let us get the match between Aiden English and Almas out of the way. It was what it was. The right man won and we have no problems with it. It is what surrounds the match that bothers us. Almas was one of the highlights of NXT and so far he has been playing a supportive role to Zelina Vega on the main roster.

While in Rusev, WWE have a bonafide superstar and it feels like WWE is actively trying to wait for the immense fan support that Rusev is getting to die down. We do want to watch the match on Sunday as Lana and Vega have proven that they don’t know how to wrestle and it will take quite the effort from the men to cover for them.

This feud has plenty of potential but there is no way it is going to work if they are put in the kickoff show.
