A New Addition to the ARMY

(Matt Hardy wins the 5th Annual Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal)

WWE

There were not a whole lot to talk about this match, other than the surprise return of Bray Wyatt to help Matt Hardy eliminate Mojo Rawley and Baron Corbin to win the match. It is official: Bray Wyatt had joined the DELETION ARMY. This should make for interesting telly time tomorrow…

The Long-Winded Road

(Cedric Alexander def. Mustafa Ali in the finals of the Cruiserweight Championship Tournament)

WWE

After all the screw-ups he has had for the past few months, Cedric Alexander has finally arisen to the top of the 205 mountain, as “The Heart” defeated “The Soul” in the finals of the Cruiserweight Championship Tournament. The match had a lukewarm response at first, but the crowd slowly got pulled into the fun. Even though WWE still had not learned its lesson and once again put the Cruiserweight Championship showdown in the pre-show, it was heartwarming to see a large portion of the crowd already in their seats by the time this match started. 205 Live is a struggling division, and has a long way to go before achieving the status of WCW’s Cruiserweight division, but Alexander at the helm was the right call. Congratulations to Cedric, and hope you have a great year ahead.

Naomi Sneaked a Victory

(Naomi wins the WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal)

WWE

Even though Naomi won the Women’s Battle Royal, there was a more important storyline going on. During the later parts of the match, Bayley prevented Banks from impending elimination. The duo then worked together to eliminate a few more women. And Bayley STRAIGHT-UP DUMPED BANKS OUT! But Bayley did not get the win, since she was last eliminated by Naomi. If our hunch is right, Bayley is heading towards a heel turn in the foreseeable future. In the Battle Royal, she only saved Sasha to help her eliminate people, and as soon as Bayley felt the job was no longer unnecessary, she got rid of Banks like unwanted goods. Just brutal.
