Clash of Champions Matches
WWE added several new matches to the Clash of Champions card this week, and according to Wrestling Observer Newsletter, two more matches are in the pipeline.
WWE is internally listing Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan for the PPV, a matchup that was originally planned for Summerslam but was eventually scrapped. WWE is also planning matches for the Women’s Tag Team Championships and the US Title. However, Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss along with AJ Styles are yet to find an opponent for the PPV.
Sasha Banks Is a Paul Heyman Girl
According to WON, Sasha Banks’ promo this week on RAW was completely written by Executive Director of RAW, Paul Heyman himself, and he is a strong advocate of the former NXT Women’s Champion.
Paul Heyman was also said to be the main factor behind Banks’ recent heel turn, and he has a large part to play in Banks’ current character.
Sasha Banks was in a desperate need for proper booking on the main roster, and it seems like she is finally getting what she deserves.
WWE To Conduct Another Draft Before The FOX Move
Dave Meltzer reports that WWE is planning to conduct a full-fledged draft, similar to the one which took place in 2016 before SmackDown Live moves to Friday nights on FOX.
The Wild Card Rule will also be taken off WWE programming, and the ‘hard’ brand-split will be enforced once again.
It was originally reported that WWE is not planning to make significant changes to either of the rosters, but it seems like those plans have changed. A lot of details are yet to be finalized, and it will be interesting to see when the draft takes place.
AEW Wants To Work With NJPW In Future
According to PWInsider, the main reason behind AEW allowing Jon Moxley to compete in New Japan Pro Wrestling’s G1 Climax was that they hope to work with NJPW in the future. Currently, all the major superstars of AEW such as Kenny Omega, Young Bucks and Cody Rhodes have not appeared in the Japanese promotion. They left NJPW last year after long tenures with the company.
Bray Wyatt Set To Receive Universal Title Shot at Hell in a Cell
The arena which will be hosting Hell in a Cell, WWE’s next PPV after Clash of Champion, announced that Bray Wyatt will be competing for the Universal Title against Seth Rollins or Braun Strowman.
According to Dave Meltzer, this is a confirmed match and isn’t a ploy to sell tickets. Wyatt defeated former Universal Champion Finn Balor at SummerSlam and is currently not advertised for the Clash of Champions PPV.
Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman hinted at the matchup when they replied to the tweet made by the arena hosting HIAC.
Enzo-Cass Won’t Be Returning To WWE
There was a report by Dave Meltzer which said that Enzo and Cass are in talks with WWE over a possible return to NXT. However, those rumors were quickly denied by Triple H in an exclusive interview to talkSPORT.
“Yeah, and which I immediately then had our PR go like, ‘yeah, no, zero interest’…”
“I have 104, or 110 talent depending on the moment at the Performance Center in the U.S., another 45 – 50 here [in the U.K.] plus some development stuff around the world. I’m not worried [about filling a two-hour show every week]… The interesting thing about today’s world is, if you call up someone willing to believe anything, you can tell them anything you want in order to try and drum up business for yourself.”
“Congratulations to Enzo, I’m sure spreading rumors has worked well for him. I just don’t want any part of it.”
Enzo and Cass recently reunited as a tag-team on the independent scene, and will likely join Ring of Honor soon.
