1. Who Put Together The Men’s/Women’s Royal Rumble?
The 2020 Royal Rumble was seen by many fans as one of the most entertaining of the past few years, there could be a number of reasons behind this. Edge’s return was seen to be one of the biggest moments of the show, but the men’s and women’s Royal Rumble matches were also well put together.
According to a report by The Wrestling Observer, one of the reasons for this could be because Shane McMahon, Lance Storm, Abyss and Jamie Noble put together the men’s Rumble while Mickie James, Tyson Kidd, Adam Pearce, and Michael Hayes put together the women’s match.
2. Turmoil and Uncertainty In WWE
It was reported late on Thursday night that George Barrios and Michelle Wilson had been let go by WWE, which has since led to some uncertainty when it comes to the future of the company.
Reports by PWInsider claim that Vince McMahon‘s vision was different from that of his co-presidents and so they were fired, which has since left a number of projects incomplete including the launch of the tiered WWE Network.
3. Undertaker Isn’t Currently Booked For WrestleMania 36
Undertaker wasn’t part of last year’s WrestleMania for the first time in more than a decade when The Deadman made the decision to return to be part of the show in Saudi Arabia instead. Reports by the Wrestling Observer revealed that The Undertaker isn’t currently booked for WrestleMania 36, but he is in discussions when it comes to participating in the show.
There are already a number of legends including Hulk Hogan, Sting and Edge who are expected to wrestle in Saudi Arabia, so The Deadman isn’t one of the stars who is believed to be making the trip next month.
4. AJ Styles Isn’t Expected To Be Sidelined For Long
AJ Styles was injured as part of the WWE Royal Rumble last weekend when he oversold a spear from Edge, which then forced the Rated R Superstar to go off script and eliminate Styles from the match earlier than expected. Styles was then reported to have suffered a separated shoulder by the Wrestling Observer which will now hopefully only sideline him for 4-6 weeks.
This means that Styles will miss WWE’s trip to The Middle East, but he should be back in time to be part of Elimination Chamber at the beginning of March.
5. Ronda Rousey’s WrestleMania Status
It was thought that former RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey would be part of the Women’s Royal Rumble match this year, which would then allow her to challenge Becky Lynch for the Championship she lost at last year’s WrestleMania, but this wasn’t the case. It now appears that WWE’s backup plan is for Shayna Baszler to challenge Lynch for the RAW Women’s Championship at WrestleMania instead.
As of right now, reports suggest that there is no plan for Rousey to be part of this year’s Show of Shows.
6. Velveteen Dream Set For NXT Return?
This week on NXT, there was a teaser played that showed the numbers “2, 5, 20.” When shared online, it appears that many fans have cracked the code and it relates to this coming week’s show on the USA Network where Velveteen Dream is expected to make his return.
Dream was put out of action by The Undisputed Era back in 2019 and was expected to be one of the entrants in the Men’s Royal Rumble match, but the former North American Champion didn’t appear, which means that his return to NXT could be on the horizon.
As ever, wrestling fans are reminded that the above are just rumors and should not be taken at face value as facts.
