1. The Undertaker Traveling To Saudi Arabia
WWE’s upcoming pay-per-view, Super ShowDown takes place this Thursday from the Mohammed Abdu Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
WWE’s biggest attraction, The Undertaker hasn’t been booked for a match in The Kingdom, but that doesn’t mean The Deaman won’t be rising from Death Valley to kick-off his heavily rumored WrestleMania feud with AJ Styles.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez reported that The Undertaker and Rey Mysterio are both flying to Saudi Arabia for Super ShowDown. It is to be noted that Mr. 619 has replaced Rusev in the Tuwaiq Trophy Gauntlet Match.
“Thursday is Super ShowDown and on the way to Saudi Arabia is the Undertaker and Rey Mysterio, who apparently has taken the place of Rusev.”
Dave Meltzer reported that The Phenom would be at the event to shoot his WrestleMania storyline angle with The Phenomenal One.
“That’s what I presume, yes. Yes. That match is still on, unlike so many of the other matches.”
It’s possible that Taker would be making a cameo appearance during the Gauntlet Match and costing AJ the trophy, thus kicking off their ‘Mania feud in style.
2. Rusev Pulled From Super ShowDown
Rusev isn’t working the Super ShowDown event and Rey Mysterio will be filling in for him. The sudden last-minute change has led the WWE Universe to speculate on the matter.
PWInsider reports that Rusev wasn’t present at the RAW taping on Monday night and has been pulled from the Saudi Arabian PPV due to an injury.
“WWE star Rusev was not at tonight’s Raw in Winnipeg, Manitoba and is no longer scheduled to travel to Saudi Arabia for this Thursday’s WWE Super Showdown in Riyadh. The word making the rounds is that Rusev is citing a back issue, leading to his replacement.”
According to Meltzer, WWE is painting the matter with an injury excuse but apparently The Bulgarian Brute simply chose to boycott Super ShowDown.
“The story is an injury, but he backed out of the show, essentially. You know it was at the last minute because on the graphic during RAW for the match it was Rusev, but they said Mysterio is in the match.”
3. WrestleMania 36 Card
WrestleMania 36 is just over a month away and the WWE Universe has already begun wondering how long this year’s grand show will be. Over the years, WWE has made it a habit for the Big 4 PPVs to run for 7 hours, oftentimes making it an exhausting affair for the audience.
Meltzer reports that WrestleMania from Tampa will feature a total of 14 matches and Rhea Ripley is the only lucky Superstar from the NXT brand to have the opportunity of wrestling at The Grandest Stage Of Them All.
“There’s 14 matches on the card and there are no other NXT guys on the card unless, of course, plans change which they obviously can at any time. The card that’s out doesn’t have any other NXT personalities other than Rhea Ripley.”
It is to be noted that the card is always subject to change and WWE can always nix a few matchups or stack the lengthy show with last-minute bookings.
4. Finn Balor Making Big Money
Finn Balor moved over to NXT and revived his singles career with a heel turn; the former NXT Champion has been unstoppable ever since and fans are high on his current gimmick.
Meltzer reports that Balor is making “main roster money” in NXT. The Prince is still under a WWE contract while with the NXT brand.
It’s likely that Balor isn’t getting royalties anymore but that shouldn’t bother him considering the fact that he’s still getting a main roster paycheck by working a comparatively lighter schedule in NXT.
5. John Cena vs. Killer Kross Is A Big No
WWE signed Killer Kross last month amidst reports of the former Impact star getting a huge push right off the bat. Kross has been reporting to the Performance Center in Orlando and is expected to be making his WWE in-ring debut at WrestleMania 36.
A rumor regarding Kross’ WrestleMania match recently made shockwaves in the IWC – Kross would be getting his huge ‘Mania moment in the form of a dream match with John Cena at the grand event in Tampa.
On Main Event podcast, Meltzer gunned down the exciting rumor, making it clear that there are no plans for a potential showdown between Cena and Kross at WrestleMania.
Though Meltzer put a stop to the rumors of Kross facing John Cena at WrestleMania 36, saying that he specifically asked if this was the plan and was told no. (H/T: SEscoops)
As ever, wrestling fans are reminded that the above are just rumors and should not be taken at face value as facts.
