1. Bobby Lashley Expected to Become WWE Champion at Backlash
Bobby Lashley takes on Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship at Backlash next Sunday night and currently there is a lot of online speculation that Bobby Lashley could be the man to dethrone The King Of The Claymore.
Tom Colohue of Sportskeeda says that there are a number of reasons why this outcome could be a better option for Monday Night Raw.
“There is a large amount of speculation at the moment that Bobby Lashley may be coming out of his feud with Drew McIntyre as the new WWE Champion. This is something that I won’t be totally against seeing. Drew McIntyre as a face is very good chasing a Championship. Also, he has defeated a lot of the RAW roster.”
“The Brand vs. Brand invitational may be essential just to keep him with opponents for a while, and that’s probably one of the reasons why we’ve seen Baron Corbin so far really use it in the men’s division.”
2. Brock Lesnar to Be Part of SummerSlam
Brock Lesnar hasn’t been seen on WWE TV since he lost the WWE Championship to Drew McIntyre back at WrestleMania in April. The Beast Incarnate has been one of the stars who has headed home during the COVID-19 pandemic, but with the restrictions easing from state to state, WWE is optimistic that Lesnar could return for SummerSlam.
According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer, Lesnar is down to be part of the pay-per-view schedule to take place in August, whether the crowd is back in attendance or not.
3. Paul Heyman Has Final Say on Seth Rollins’ Stable
Austin Theory recently joined Seth Rollins’ stable alongside his original disciple Murphy which has led to many members of the WWE Universe questioning if any other members are set to be added.
Rollins himself revealed that he wants someone close to him in the group, but Tom Colohue of Sportskeeda noted that despite Rollins pitching numerous names, the final say is down to Paul Heyman.
“Seth has pitched quite a few names, and at this point, it’s essentially up to Paul Heyman. He wants to bring in someone new, quite fresh, and help them develop. It could even be someone like Humberto Carrillo, of course, to really help him develop. But there are quite a few people. He’s very proud of what he’s been able to accomplish. I certainly would be too, and I would laugh so hard if it ends up being Roman Reigns.”
4. Jaxson Ryker Backstage Heat
Jaxson Ryker was only recently moved up to the main roster as part of The Forgotten Sons, but it appears that the SmackDown locker room “is fuming at him” following his recent Tweet.
The former NXT star Tweeted his support for President Trump with the recent issues in America before including his “Forgotten No More” tag to the end of the update. Many WWE stars have since condemned him for the Tweet and for using the recent issues to further his character but this reportedly won’t get the star fired.
According to The Wrestling Observer, Ryker’s job is safe, but there is tension surrounding him backstage.
5. Shayna Baszler’s Absence is to Allow Nia Jax to Be Pushed
Many members of the WWE Universe have noticed that Shayna Baszler has been missing from WWE TV now for a few weeks. According to Tom Colohue on Dropkick DiSKussions, this is to clear the way for Nia Jax’s title push.
Baszler has defeated many of the wrestlers on Raw at present and the company feels that it’s a waste to have her in squash matches on a regular basis. Colohue went on to state that Baszler will return following Backlash and will be Asuka’s next title challenger.
6. EC3 Teases Heading to Impact Wrestling
Impact Wrestling’s biggest show of the year takes place on July 18th, which is three days after many released WWE stars’ 90-day clause comes to an end.
The company has already released a teaser video that shows a number of stars who originally worked for the promotion, but it appears that EC3 could definitely make an appearance.
The former Impact star was wasted on WWE’s main roster so it didn’t come as much of a shock when he was released back in April. He recently posted the following Tweet which many believe links him to an Impact Wrestling return.
As ever, wrestling fans are reminded that the above are just rumors and should not be taken at face value as facts.
