Roman Reigns Requested Recent Heel Turn
Roman Reigns returned to WWE back at SummerSlam where he sent a message to Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt regarding the Universal Championship before aligning himself with Paul Heyman.
The Big Dog later won the Universal Championship back at Payback and completed his heel turn, before it was revealed by The Wrestling Observer that Reigns himself actually requested that he turned heel when he returned to the company.
Reigns hasn’t been seen since March and was isolating due to the COVID-19 pandemic for a number of months and his surprise return coupled with his shock Championship win helped his heel turn.
WWE Not Expected to Travel to Saudi Arabia in 2020
WWE traveled to Saudi Arabia earlier this year and presented Super ShowDown where Goldberg became the first man to defeat The Fiend and lift the Universal Championship. The COVID-19 pandemic has since forced WWE to remain inside the Performance Center until their recent move to The Amway Center in Florida.
Given the recent pandemic, there is a feeling in WWE that regardless of the situation in October when WWE’s deal with The Amway Center needs to be renewed, WWE won’t be looking to present the second show in The Middle East in 2020.
There is a belief that the reason Payback was just a week after SummerSlam was because it was in place of what should have been WWE’s second trip to Saudi Arabia. Of course, the company signed a 10-year deal with Saudi Arabia back in 2018 which means that the show from this year will have to be made up another year.
WWE Stars Expected to “Push Back” Following New Streaming Rules
It was revealed yesterday that WWE and Vince McMahon sent out a letter to all of their talent to make it clear that they were no longer allowed to stream on platforms such as Twitch and Cameo. WWE made it clear that they own the rights to their character names and their real names and told the stars to end their associations with the streaming services by October 2nd.
Many WWE stars supplement their income with their streaming services and according to PWInsider, there is talk of many stars “pushing back” following the news.
Mike Rome noted that if the stars stream under their real names then they won’t be required to stop streaming on Twitch or Tik Tok.
Brock Lesnar’s Return Match Revealed?
Brock Lesnar’s current WWE contract has expired and it’s unknown when the former WWE Champion will make his return to the company, but according to a report by The Wrestling Observer, Lesnar’s return match is expected to be at WrestleMania 37 against Drew McIntyre.
“It was said that for Lesnar, like for Tyson Fury (who issued a challenge to Drew McIntyre this past week for a match), that it’s at this point Saudi Arabia and WrestleMania as the only shows that make sense right now and the belief right now is Saudi Arabia won’t happen this year. Lesnar’s name had been talked about in WWE in reference to a Drew McIntyre rematch for this coming WrestleMania, but that was if McIntyre was to retain the title, which has also been considered to go to Randy Orton, who in theory would be earmarked for Edge and not Lesnar. But nothing in that direction is close to being decided.”
Who is the Debuting Female Star on SmackDown?
Last night on SmackDown, there was a short vignette that was played showing a female in heels walking through purple smoke. It’s evident that there will be a new female wrestler debuting on SmackDown in the coming weeks, but the WWE Universe has been left guessing.
Many believe that this could be Chelsea Green who was previously linked to RETRIBUTION, or other names that have been raised are Vanessa Bourne and Carmella.
It’s believed that this mystery female will make her debut on SmackDown following Clash of Champions at the end of the month.
Elias’ Expected WWE Return Date
Elias hasn’t been seen on WWE TV since the end of May when he was part of the Hit and Run storyline with Sheamus and Jeff Hardy. The Drifter was loaded into an ambulance and it was reported that he suffered a number of injuries as a result.
In reality, Elias had suffered a torn pectoral muscle and was then sidelined for around nine months. In an update ahead of this week’s SmackDown, Tom Colohue of Sportskeeda noted that fans could be waiting until 2021 for the return of the star with the most obvious date being as part of the 2021 Royal Rumble match.
As ever, wrestling fans are reminded that the above are just rumors and should not be taken at face value as facts.
