Daniel Bryan Could Be Roman Reigns’ Next Challenger
Last night on SmackDown, Jey Uso unleashed an attack on Daniel Bryan after he was able to defeat the former World Champion to qualify for Survivor Series.
According to a report by The Wrestling Observer, there are no plans for the company to bring back the likes of John Cena or Goldberg to take on Reigns. The report goes on to state that given this week’s SmackDown, Daniel Bryan could well be Reigns’ next challenger.
Backstage Chaos Ahead of This Week’s SmackDown
Bryan Alvarez from The Wrestling Observer took to Twitter last night to confirm that there was some backstage chaos ahead of this week’s SmackDown which led to the script not being finished until the last minute.
Only two matches and the segment between Roman Reigns and Jey Uso were officially announced before the show, with the rest of the card seemingly up in the air.
Vince McMahon Currently Only Has a Handful of Favorite WWE Stars
The WWE Chairman often chooses his favorite stars on any given roster and it’s usually those wrestlers who are then given a push. It was recently revealed that Peyton Royce and Bianca Belair were two of the women that McMahon thought had a bright future which has led to The IIconics’ split and Belair qualifying for Survivor Series.
According to Ringsidenews, a high ranking backstage WWE official has confirmed that there are only a few stars in WWE right now that are seen as McMahon’s favorites.
“With the exception of Randy Orton, Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman, Street Profits, and New Day, Vince doesn’t seem to like anything or anyone.”
Several More Positive COVID-19 Cases at WWE’s Performance Center
It was reported last week that a Performance Center coach tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of Halloween Havoc on Wednesday night and anyone who had been in contact with the coach was forced to quarantine.
Luckily for WWE, none of the stars who were regularly used on NXT TV had been in contact with the coach, and only Indi Hartwell was pulled from the show. According to a further report from The Wrestling Observer, a number of other stars tested positive following the coach’s test but these were the stars who were new to the NXT system.
Triple H Was Reportedly a Huge Influence on SmackDown in Bruce Prichard’s Absence
Last night’s episode of SmackDown interestingly didn’t contain a Trick or Street Fight for the first time in a number of years ahead of Halloween. This was reportedly because of the absence of Bruce Prichard, and because Triple H was a huge influence on the overall show.
The company made the decision to push the matches for Survivor Series instead, and there seemingly wasn’t anyone pushing for the company’s usual gimmick match.
RingsideNews also went on to report that Triple H was a huge influence on a number of the stars who were part of last night’s show.
Matt Riddle Reportedly Impressed Vince McMahon on Raw
Matt Riddle became the latest WWE star to lose part of his name earlier this week when it was confirmed that the former MMA star would now be called “Riddle” moving forward.
Fightful went on to note that as well as the name change, Riddle will have a much more serious character on Monday Night Raw, which has come because Vince McMahon was impressed by his match against Sheamus this past week.
Riddle came up short in his Survivor Series qualifying match against Sheamus on Monday Night Raw, but despite this the newly named star’s future on the red brand is still looking bright.
As ever, wrestling fans are reminded that the above are just rumors and should not be taken at face value as facts
