Interesting Gimmick Match Planned For The Fiend vs Randy Orton at the Royal Rumble
The Fiend hasn’t been seen on WWE TV since he lost his Firefly Inferno match to Randy Orton back at TLC: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs. Orton took the concept of the match a step too far when he set The Fiend alight and left him to burn in the center of the ring and could have done the same to Alexa Bliss last week on Raw.
The feud between The Fiend and The Viper is obviously far from over, and while there have been rumors that the two stars will collide in a gimmick match at this month’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view, The Wrestling Observer has confirmed that the current plan is for it to be a Firefly Fun House match.
John Cena is the only star to have stepped into this match against The Fiend, so it will be interesting to see if Orton is able to become the first star to find his way out.
WWE Stars Have Recently Rejected Low Contract Offers
WWE has several superstars who are looking at their contracts expiring in the near future, so the company is looking to sign these stars to new deals. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has meant that many of the offers that have been handed out have been seen as too low, and according to a report by Fightful Select, many stars have rejected them.
The site went on to confirm that this was what happened with Riddle, who rejected the company’s first offer before signing an improved multi-year deal last week. Many stars are reportedly waiting for the climate to get a little better before signing a new deal, and WWE is open to waiting for these unnamed stars.
Eva Marie Set to Be Part of Legends Night
The return of Eva Marie has become one of WWE’s worst kept secrets since the plan has been reported since October. The former Total Divas star is now reportedly part of internal rosters and expected to make her return to the company ahead of the Royal Rumble.
According to Fightful Select, at one point, there was a plan for Eva Marie to be part of Legends Night next week, and the star was spotted backstage at Raw last month dressing up to film promos.
This news means that Marie is obviously now edging closer to a WWE return.
Arn Anderson Once Pitched a Unabomber Gimmick for Luke Harper in WWE
Luke Harper was always seen as a creepy character, either as part of The Wyatt Family or when he was teamed with Erick Rowan in The Bludgeon Brothers, but what fans didn’t get to see was that plans for Harper could have been much worse.
On the latest episode of Talk Is Jericho, AEW star Arn Anderson recently revealed that he actually pitched a terrifying Unabomber gimmick for Luke Harper, but the WWE creative team shot him down straight away.
“What if you got a shot from somebody in a tree or something, and you’re shooting into a window and you got a single light bulb and it really looks like a primitive, almost I’m expecting the camera to pan down like you got some guy tied up and you’re torturing them or something. What if that guy is sitting with a computer, and he’s rattling away. And you made that guy The Unabomber.”
“He’s brilliant. He’s making stuff. He’s going over the injuries. He somehow got ahold of all the records of all the crew with their injuries. What is he going to attack next, kind of game planning? His voice is eloquent. You make him a genius. How scary would that guy have been? Well, when I tried to lay that out to creative, they looked at me like I got six heads as you can imagine.”
Kairi Sane Looking for WWE Approval to Appear at Stardom
Despite walking away from WWE earlier this year, Kairi Sane is still under contract with the company and is working from her native country. The former Women’s Tag Team Champion was recently asked to appear at Stardom’s upcoming event on March 3rd, but according to The Wrestling Observer Sane is struggling to gain WWE’s approval.
“They haven’t been back since. Other plans include trying to bring back stars from the past, most notably Kairi Hojo (Sane). Hojo is still under contract to WWE and she went to the Japanese WWE office for help in approving doing an appearance on the show but this got nowhere.”
FOX Reportedly Tweeted Out About Seth Rollins’ Return Before it Was Official
WWE fans were left disappointed last night when Seth Rollins didn’t make his return to WWE after leaving the company on paternity leave following Survivor Series in November.
WWE on FOX tweeted that Rollins would make his return on the New Year’s Day episode of the show, but according to a report by RingSideNews, this was never official.
It appears that the account jumped the gun and sent out the Tweet before having to later delete it.
As ever, wrestling fans are reminded that the above are just rumors and should not be taken at face value as facts
