WWE Rumor Roundup: Sami Zayn’s Status, Becky Lynch Update, Brock Lesnar Return Feud

1. Sami Zayn Expected To Be Away From WWE TV For a While

Sami Zayn hasn’t appeared on SmackDown over the past two weeks and the Wrestling Observer recently noted that this was The Great Liberator’s own choice. WWE has offered all of their stars the option to stay at home during the current pandemic and so far it appears that Roman Reigns is the only star to have decided to exercise it.

It’s unknown when Zayn will make his return, but the report stated that he was scheduled to be on SmackDown last week, but didn’t appear. Last night, it seemed as though Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro had joined forces with King Corbin in his absence.

2. Becky Lynch Garnering Attention Outside Of The Ring

Becky Lynch has been at the top of her game for over a year now and has defeated everyone who has stood in her way so it comes as no surprise that during her hiatus from WWE, the Raw Women’s Champion has been garnering some attention from other entertainment industries.

Lynch is a trained actress and recently announced that she is making a cameo on Showtime series Billions, this weekend, which could be the first of many acting roles for The Man in the coming months.

3. Corey Graves Making an In-Ring Return?

Corey Graves was forced to retire from in-ring competition almost five years ago when it was revealed that he had suffered a number of concussions. He later went on to train to be a commentator and has since become one of the most popular stars behind the announce desk, but given the recent returns of Edge and Daniel Bryan, could Corey Graves be the next man on the list?

According to Ringsidenews, a video was leaked of Graves performing a number of wrestling moves alongside his brother Scott Adonis. In the video, Corey was managing to perform the moves while not taking any significant bumps but it has since sparked rumors that he could be looking to make his return to the ring in the coming months.

4. Triple H Was a Huge Fan Of Recently Released Curtis Axel

Curtis Axel was released from WWE earlier this week, a release that didn’t come as that much of a shock given his recent lack of action on WWE TV. The Third-Generation star was given a number of chances in WWE a few years ago and Dave Meltzer recently revealed on The Wrestling Observer that this was because Triple H was a huge fan of the son of Mr Perfect.

“He was pushed as one of the top stars in developmental. At the same time they liked his athletic ability and that he was tall. He was brought to the main roster and expected to be a star. Paul Levesque in particular thought he was going to be one of the flagship stars of the company. His first run as Michael McGillicutty went nowhere. The run where he was supposed to be a star was in the spring of 2013 when he was given the name Curtis Axel with Paul Heyman as his manager.”

5. Apollo Crews’ Injury is Kayfabe

Apollo Crews was heartbreakingly forced to drop out of the Money in the Bank ladder match after suffering an injury last week on Raw, but Sportskeeda’s Tom Colohue recently revealed that this injury was all in kayfabe and was designed to get Crews some sympathy.

“It’s a kayfabe injury. He was taken out of the match. They knew it was going to happen beforehand, so before they filmed this, they had the match. They knew it was coming, they knew it was planned, so it was definitely written ahead of time. It does get some sympathy for the character. With Apollo Crews, the concern has never been his wrestling. He’s a very talented performer. It’s always been about the character and naturally connecting to the audience. You think back to how many times people going all the way to the promised land and pulling it back. Daniel Bryan in 2013 was an example.”

6. Brock Lesnar Expected to Return and Feud With Bobby Lashley

Brock Lesnar hasn’t been seen on WWE TV since he lost the WWE Championship to Drew McIntyre back at WrestleMania. While many fans expected him to make his return to the company and look for some revenge against the Scottish star, Sportskeeda’s Tom Colohue recently revealed that the plan is for Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley to step into a feud instead.

Lashley has been part of a controversial storyline with Lana in recent months, but he has been outspoken about the fact that he wants to face Brock Lesnar at some point in his career, it appears that he could finally be about to get his wish.

As ever, wrestling fans are reminded that the above are just rumors and should not be taken at face value as facts.
