Roman Reigns vs Edge Planned for WrestleMania 37, Outcome Not decided
Edge’s 2021 Royal Rumble win guarantees that he will be able to challenge for a World Championship at WrestleMania. Despite being a superstar on Monday Night Raw, it appears as though The Rated R Superstar could be headed to SmackDown to challenge Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship.
Last night’s episode of SmackDown didn’t see Edge officially make a decision, but according to The Wrestling Observer, this could be the match that WWE is planning, even though the company hasn’t decided on an outcome as of yet.
NXT Championship to Be Defended a WrestleMania for the First Time
Finn Balor is the current NXT Champion and set to defend his title next weekend at Takeover: Vengeance Day against Pete Dunne.
Edge made a surprise appearance on NXT this past week where he hinted that he could challenge for the NXT Championship following his Royal Rumble win. Even though The Rated R Superstar is expected to challenge for a main roster Championship, WrestleVotes is reporting that WWE could be planning to include the NXT Championship at WrestleMania for the first time.
The fact that the show is over two-nights means that the company could accommodate an NXT title match much easier this year.
Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar Could Be in the Plans for WrestleMania
Roman Reigns could defend his Universal Championship against Edge at WrestleMania, but if the company decides to change these plans, then Reigns could face off against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania instead.
According to The Wrestling Observer, the Paul Heyman connection could be enough to build up a match between the two men, even though the time frame between now and WrestleMania may not be enough to build up a match of this magnitude between these two men.
Cesaro Agrees to a New Deal With WWE
Cesaro got a huge victory last night on SmackDown when he was able to force Daniel Bryan to tap to the sharpshooter. The Swiss Superman’s WWE contract was set to expire following WrestleMania 37 and the rumor mill suggested that the former Champion could be heading elsewhere.
According to Dave Meltzer from The Wrestling Observer, Cesaro either verbally agreed or signed a new contract with the company a few weeks ago.
There has been no official confirmation that Cesaro has signed a new deal, but his recent push on SmackDown is seemingly proof that he could be set for big things in the near future.
Huge WrestleMania Plans for Damian Priest
Damian Priest made his official debut on Monday Night Raw this past week where he continued his storyline with Bad Bunny. This angle began at Royal Rumble and also involves The Miz and John Morrison. WWE reportedly has some huge plans for Bad Bunny and Damian Priest at WrestleMania, since the musician has been training at WWE Performance Center in recent weeks.
Priest has been endorsed by several stars including Edge recently, which shows that WWE wants to push him into a decent feud heading into WrestleMania, and being paired with a celebrity like Bad Bunny could be a huge boost for the former NXT star.
Backstage Update on Murphy’s WWE Status
Murphy was part of a storyline with The Mysterio Family at the end of 2020 but hasn’t been seen in several weeks despite Rey Mysterio and Dominik continuing their storyline with King Corbin.
According to a report by RingsideNews, Murphy has still been backstage at SmackDown, but at present, the company has nothing for him. At one time, Corbin had Steve Cutler and Wesley Blake by his side, so Murphy and Dominik could even out the numbers, but Cutler’s recent release means that it’s likely that the story has now ended.
As ever, wrestling fans are reminded that the above are just rumors and should not be taken at face value as facts
