AJ Styles invaded NXT this past week alongside Club members Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, sending a clear message to the black and gold brand. The United States Champion closed out the show with The OC when he took on the team of Matt Riddle, Keith Lee and Tomasso Ciampa, but Styles originally wanted to be feuding with someone else heading into Survivor Series.
According to a report by Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer, The Phenomenal One originally pitched an idea that saw The OC take on NXT’s Undisputed Era at Survivor Series.
This match obviously won’t be able to take place as part of the show now since Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly are already in a triple threat tag match that also includes The New Day and The Viking Raiders.
The OC could still face The Undisputed Era on an episode of NXT in the future though since Finn Balor seemingly put himself on the same page as his former Bullet Club team members when he attacked Matt Riddle this past week on NXT, so the match could be four vs four.
The likelihood now is that AJ Styles will be put in a match against Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura and North American Champion Roderick Strong at Survivor Series, but Adam Cole’s potential match is still up in the air with the announcement that Rey Mysterio will be taking on WWE Champion Brock Lesnar.
Survivor Series is still more than two weeks away, which means there is still room for change and build-up to new matches, but right now it appears that Undisputed Era will be busy the night before at War Games, since they are battling the team of Matt Riddle, Keith Lee, Tommaso Ciampa and a partner of their choosing inside the structure on the eve of Survivor Series.
