AJ Styles Storyline Scrapped Following Move Over to SmackDown

AJ Styles was recently drafted over to SmackDown following his loss at Money in the Bank, meaning that the former World Champion’s lasting impression on Raw was the loss to The Undertaker at WrestleMania.

Styles has teased a rematch with The Deadman, but it’s unknown if that will be able to take place now that Styles has been moved over to The Blue Brand.

According to a report by Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer, there were plans in place for AJ Styles to have feuds with a number of up and coming babyfaces on Monday Night Raw including Cedric Alexander, Ricochet, and Humberto Carrillo.

“AJ was there to make new babyfaces, that was what he was there for. How many new babyfaces did he make? None. He didn’t even lose on the way out. Well, he lost to The Undertaker but that didn’t but that does nobody any good.”

“My point is that every one of these guys from Ricochet to Cedric Alexander to Humberto Carrillo – every single one of them was supposed to be in a big feud with AJ where they would get over and they would win the title and not one of them did.”

Over on SmackDown, Styles was able to defeat Shinsuke Nakamura and will now face Elias this coming week on SmackDown for a place in the finals of the Intercontinental Championship tournament.
