Aleister Black was moved over to SmackDown Live as part of The Superstar Shakeup back in April after WWE opted to allow The Dutch Destroyer to move to the same brand as his wife Zelina Vega.
Despite being one of the hottest commodities on the blue brand at present, WWE has opted to keep Black out of the ring and instead work on delivering backstage promos until they can find him the perfect opponent.
After weeks of Black begging for someone to pick a fight with him and finally knock on his door, this week on SmackDown Live someone interrupted Black’s promo and by knocking on the door, even though the WWE Universe were not shown who it was.
Aleister Black is the kind of superstar who can have a good match with anyone, which is why the company has kept him out of the ring over the past few months in order to work on his character so that the SmackDown Live audience knows what to expect when he finally leaves the dark room backstage.
It is thought that this will be Black’s storyline heading into Extreme Rules in the coming weeks, but while many fans speculate who it was who knocked on Black’s door, WrestleVotes revealed on Twitter that WWE was planning for Black to wrestle at the upcoming pay-per-view and that Cesaro was the name that had been decided earlier today.
Cesaro is in as much need of a push as Black right now, but he’s a fantastic athlete and has put on some incredible matches over the past few months. Sadly the former Champion has been unable to reach the heights of the main event picture since he was pushed into the Tag Team Division, but this could finally be his chance to prove that it’s where he deserves to be.
