Ali became one of the first talents from 205 Live to permanently move onto the main roster. Ali debuted on SmackDown Live last year, in a match against the then-WWE Champion, Daniel Bryan.
Ali quickly became one of the hottest babyfaces on the SmackDown Live roster, and was due for a WWE Championship opportunity at Elimination Chamber before Kofi Kingston replaced him at the last moment.
Following Ali’s success, two more 205 Live talents, Buddy Murphy and Cedric Alexander were drafted to SmackDown and RAW roster respectively in April. Cedric Alexander has been relegated to the lower card of RAW roster while Buddy Murphy is yet to make a single appearance on WWE television since his move to the blue brand.
Ali and Buddy Murphy had several high quality matches during their time on 205 Live, and consistently stole the show with their high flying offense.
Ali and Murphy are currently directionless on the main roster, and their talents are being wasted sitting on the sidelines.
In an Instagram post this week, Ali teased a potential feud against Buddy Murphy. Ali posted a still from a match-up between the superstars on 205 Live, with a caption “let’s make the world fall in love with wrestling again.”
A mid-card feud between Ali and Murphy would not just help to utilize their talents, but provide high quality battles on a weekly basis. Former Cruiserweight Champion Murphy has been grossly misused on the main roster. A rivalry against his former dance partner from 205 Live will be beneficial for all the parties involved.
