Last night on Raw, Angel Garza and Andrade picked up the win over The Viking Raiders, as their pursuit of the Raw Tag Team Championships continued, even though they then went on to lose their handicap match against The Big Show.
During the latest episode of The Wrestling Observer, Dave Meltzer noted that Zelina Vega’s new duo had originally been scheduled to win the titles at some point.
It’s unknown as to whether or not this is still the case since The Street Profits are expected to go up against the team in the near future, as early as Extreme Rules next month.
The original plan was for Andrade and Garza to team up to take on The Street Profits at WrestleMania, but Austin Theory was drafted in at the last minute after Andrade’s injury.
While it’s possible that the tag team could have been set to win the titles from The Street Profits at the biggest event of the year, it’s unknown as to whether or not that was the plan.
Theory has since left the group and Andrade and Garza are now looking to challenge for the Championships, so this could finally be the duo’s chance to lift gold together on the main roster.
