Kevin Owens hasn’t been seen on WWE programming since his victory over Buddy Murphy on the pre-show of ‘Horror Show at Extreme Rules’. The Prizefighter didn’t have any major rivalry going into the PPV, and his match against Murphy was just a filler match for the PPV.
Owens hasn’t done much since his win at WrestleMania against Seth Rollins and has mostly been relegated to assisting Rey Mysterio against Rollins and his goons.
Owens attended the RAW tapings on July 20th and was originally scheduled to be a part of the shows. However, plans changed at the last moment according to Wrestling Observer Newsletter, leading to his absence from the two shows.
“Even though he wasn’t on the last two shows, Owens was at the Raw tapings on 7/20. He had been written into the original shows but with all the changes made, they decided not to use him. I think the key was that since they wanted to do injury angles with Black on both shows, the feeling was that Owens would theoretically have to do run-ins to attempt to break those up and they didn’t feel the need to sacrifice him in angles like that”
Kevin Owens has been a big advocate of masks during WWE tapings and was revealed as the anonymous superstar who forced WWE to introduce a compulsory mask policy.
Owens looked set for big things ever since his face turn in 2019, and a win over Rollins was supposed to be his push to the top, but it has been halted for unknown reasons.
Owens will definitely be a part of the SummerSlam plans in the coming weeks and should be a part of the upcoming episode of the red brand.
