WWE debuted a brand new faction this week on RAW, after the returning Andrade teamed up with Angel Garza and Austin Theory, with Zelina Vega leading the charge as the manager. Both the NXT call-ups happened after Andrade was suspended and then injured, and now WWE is looking to build a faction around them.
There was doubt over Theory’s main-roster stay, as he was merely a cover for Andrade after he suffered a rib injury and was pulled out of the Tag Team Championship Match against Street Profits at WrestleMania.
However, according to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, Theory is now officially a part of the Monday night roster, after impressing the WWE officials with his performances over the past few weeks. Theory signed with WWE late last year, and his run in NXT was quite limited.
Meltzer added that Theory’s promotion to the main roster wasn’t a call made by Vince McMahon but RAW Executive Director Paul Heyman. Heyman has been instrumental in backing up new guys like Aleister Black and Murphy in the last few months, and Theory seems to be the latest Paul Heyman guy.
“This isn’t Vince, this is definitely Heyman and [Austin Theory] was brought up because they needed a guy for WrestleMania and they were impressed enough. It is too early, way too early, but those are the breaks. They liked the idea of the 3 person stable with Zelina Vega, Andrade, Angel Garza, and Austin Theory.”
Theory defeated Akira Tozawa in a singles match this week and will take on Aleister Black next week with a place in the Money in the Bank ladder match on the line. Theory isn’t expected to win the match against Black, who has been pinned just once since his debut and is a major favorite to win the MITB.
Garza, Andrade and Theory are surely a highly talented group, who have the potential to become a major name on Monday nights. RAW’s other stable, led by Seth Rollins, is currently on hold as Rezar of AOP suffered an injury.
