Backstage Update On Usos’ Status, WWE Nixes Planned Push For Former 24/7 Champion

The Usos have slowly become one of the best tag-teams in professional wrestling currently, and their matches have rarely disappointed. Ever since their character change in late 2016, the duo has brought life to the tag-team division, and their rivalry with New Day from 2017 is arguably one of the best feuds in recent memory.

However, The Usos have unfortunately been caught on the wrong side of the law quite a few times recently. A week before SummerSlam, Jimmy Uso was arrested for DUI, which prevented them from attending the PPV in Canada. Its been over a month since the Samoans were last seen on WWE television.

According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter, The Usos have been off television due to Jimmy’s DUI and are scheduled to return to in-ring action in few weeks’ time. The tag team division feels weakened in their absence. The New Day are defending their titles against Revival, a RAW team while the actual RAW division has two makeshift teams competing for the title.

Elsewhere, WON also reported that Mike Kanellis was due to get a push, but it seems to be dropped inexplicably. Mike and his wife Maria Kanellis were getting decent screen-time last month when the couple took part in the 24/7 shenanigans.

“That one could actually kill a career. Yeah, Mike [Kanellis] angle, that’s a good question. It was going there hot and heavy and then it just ended with no explanation. He’s on 205 Live, not this week, but he’s been on.”

Mike and Maria joined WWE over two years ago, but have failed to create any memorable moment in their WWE run so far. Mike is currently a part of the 205 Live roster, but has not made any significant impact in the cruiserweight division.

The first-ever pregnant 24/7 champ was an interesting gimmick on RAW, and hopefully, the couple gets proper screentime in the future.
