Backstage Update on WWE Stars Who Were Listed as Alternatives for the Men’s Royal Rumble

The 2021 Royal Rumble pay-per-view is now in the history books and Edge has a huge decision to make in the coming weeks.

That being said, there are still several notes about the Royal Rumble match that have recently been shared publicly for the first time.

Murphy hasn’t been seen on WWE TV since December when he was part of a match against King Corbin on SmackDown, but according to a report by Fightful Select, the former Cruiserweight Champion was slated as an alternative for the Royal Rumble match but wasn’t used.

Cedric Alexander was another alternative but wasn’t needed, even though reports suggest that Jey Uso and Keith Lee were pulled from the match at the last minute.

Montez Ford was backstage as part of the show but reportedly wasn’t listed internally as an alternative for the Men’s Royal Rumble, while the update is seemingly the same for Andrade.

It’s been months since the WWE Universe has seen the former NXT Champion but the report states that there’s no update about Andrade being in the building but it was confirmed that he wasn’t listed as an alternative for the men’s match.

There were several last-minute changes and additions to the show since WWE was fighting against a global pandemic as well as their ever-changing creative direction.
