Charlotte Flair Is Set To Face WWE Hall Of Famer At SummerSlam

Stratus has reportedly been in training ahead of a return

Charlotte Flair hasn’t been very active in the Women’s Division on SmackDown Live over the past few weeks, but she certainly made an impression this week following her loss to Ember Moon.

Flair isn’t happy that Moon was the woman that Bayley chose to face her for the Women’s Championship at the Biggest Party of the Summer, so as part of a scathing backstage interview following her loss, The Queen declared that her opponent in Toronto next month would be much better than Ember Moon.

It doesn’t take a lot of research to figure out that this year’s SummerSlam is in the hometown of WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus. The former Champion once held the record as a 7-time Women’s Champion before Charlotte Flair was able to break her record.

Flair went one further by wiping Stratus out of the record books earlier this year when she became a nine-time Women’s Champion after Stratus had amassed eight Championships reigns throughout her career including her Hardcore Championship reign.

The WWE Universe has been wanting to see these two women face off for a number of years and reports now suggest that Stratus has been in training ahead of a return, which is why she was suspiciously missing from this week’s Raw Reunion show.

According to John Pollock of POST Wrestling, the plan is to allow Stratus to return to the ring to face Flair in her hometown on August 11th, which means that there could be a minimum of four women’s matches on the card this year if Flair vs Stratus goes ahead.

So far the Raw Women’s Championship will be contested between Natalya and Becky Lynch, Bayley will defend her SmackDown Women’s Championship against Ember Moon and The Kabuki Warriors look set to challenge The IIconics for the Women’s Tag Team Championships.
