WWE has been heavily relying on Charlotte Flair over the past few months as The Queen worked down in NXT to help ratings in WWE’s developmental division.
Flair has also wrestled on Raw and SmackDown in recent weeks, but last night on Raw the former 12-time Women’s Champion was injured at the hands of Nia Jax and WWE released an official statement revealing that she suffered a suspected broken collarbone.
Of course, according to TalkSPORT Flair isn’t actually injured. The former Champion is just taking some time away from WWE to rest and to undergo surgery. According to the report, Flair isn’t expected back until the 2021 Royal Rumble.
“Sources have told talkSPORT that Flair will be taking an extended break from WWE. The 34-year-old has been a constant on the show for years now and she is going to be taking some personal time and having some surgery.”
“The idea is that she will return around Royal Rumble season next year, but if a good story pops up before then – around Survivor Series – she would be open to return later this year.”
Flair won the NXT Women’s Championship at WrestleMania back in April and has since been working on all three brands.
The Queen remained as a regular on NXT until she lost the NXT Women’s Championship to Io Shirai at In Your House a few weeks ago. Flair has since been given the green light to take some time away from the company and is expected to remain off-screen for a number of months.
The report went on to state that there is a zero percent chance that Flair will be returning to WWE at SummerSlam. The Queen has been on the road with WWE for years and deserves a break. It appears that the Raw, SmackDown and NXT Women’s Divisions will be fine in her absence.
