It was widely reported yesterday that former WWE Champion CM Punk took part in a try-out for WWE’s newest TV show, WWE Backstage. Punk apparently took part in a try-out for the show, and according to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the whole process went quite well.

Punk took part in on-camera testing for the show and the FOX officials were impressed with him. It was noted by Meltzer that Punk’s successful tryout could result in an offer for the show quite soon.

The show is currently scheduled to start from November 5th, and air on Tuesday nights at 11.00 PM. WWE announced Renee Young and WWE Hall of Famer Booker T as the hosts for the show earlier this week, but it seems like Punk could be a late addition to the show.

It is also interesting to note that the new show is being produced by FOX for FS1, and not by WWE themselves. This effectively means that Punk will be signing with FOX and not WWE if he were to accept an offer for WWE Backstage. WWE is reportedly not too discontented with this deal, as it helps to keep him away from All Elite Wrestling.

FOX is still experimenting with the format of the upcoming show, with 3-5 people hosting a panel discussion being one of the ideas being thrown around.

CM Punk made quite some negative comments about AEW during his appearance at Starrcast a few weeks ago. Meltzer says that those comments have led to AEW stop their chase for Punk altogether.

AEW won’t be pursuing CM Punk anytime soon, which increases the possibility of us seeing him in WWE soon., albeit in a much different capacity.

Punk was also reported to be signing a deal with WWE as a wrestler, which would certainly be an earth-shattering announcement. However, we could not verify the authenticity of the reports.
