CM Punk has become a major talking point in the wrestling circles once again, and it seems like the former WWE Champion is very close to making a return to the company. Punk left WWE in 2014 amidst differences with the backstage officials and has never competed in any wrestling promotion ever since.
The rumors of Punk returning to WWE for a role on the FS1 show have been circulating in the last few days. Punk reportedly had a try-out for WWE Backstage and could be making his return to WWE in a different capacity.
However, the latest reports from WrestleVotes say that CM Punk will wrestle for the company soon. The report says that the return will be super quiet and will happen eventually.
“I asked, I got back nothing definitive, as it should be. If and when it happens, it should be super quiet. One source went on to say “probably not now, but eventually” so that’s that.
Punk tried his hand in UFC but couldn’t find success in the company. Punk also appeared at Starrcast III last month and spoke at length about his wrestling career. Punk was quite shocked to learn that WWE allows wrestlers to take breaks now.
Punk also appeared on The Kevin & Bean Show recently and was grilled about his current status with WWE. Punk was asked about the FS1 show and he carefully dodged the question with a question of his own!
“You mean to tell me you’d watch a show where I talk about wrestling?”
Punk was then asked about the upcoming debut of Smackdown on FOX, and how Rock called him from the Staples Center last time he was in a WWE ring. While shooting for Fighting with the Family movie, Rock jokingly called Punk in front of a whole arena after RAW. Punk didn’t pick up the call as he was apparently busy at that time.
Punk jokingly said on the radio show that Dwayne should call him once again when he appears on SmackDown this week.
“I enjoy The Rock, I do. And I’m not trying to put this out… gee, hopefully, people don’t do this, but do you remember the last time The Rock was in the Staples Center? Let’s do it again. When is this show, next Friday? Dwayne, call me Friday
The Rock is returning to WWE television for the first time in over three years, and his appearance will surely be a major talking point. Could Punk return too? Only time will tell!
