Cody Rhodes lost the TNT Championship to Mr. Brodie Lee this past Saturday on AEW Dynamite.
The Executive Vice President had defended the title for 91 days but couldn’t dig any deeper as The Exalted One dethroned him to score the biggest victory of his AEW career to date.
PWInsider reports that Cody is off on a hiatus to sell the beating he suffered at the hands of Lee. It’s possible that the former TNT Champion would be busy filming STARZ ‘Heels’ series which is about to go into production in Georgia.
“The expectation is that Cody will be off TV for an extended period to sell the beating he took at the hands of Brodie Lee.”
“The timing may have something to do with STARZ Heels series going into production in Georgia as Stephen Amell specifically asked Cody to take part in the series when Amell’s casting was announced last year. The timing certainly matches up. AEW has promised an update on Cody this Thursday.”
It’s safe to assume that Cody’s return will see him challenge for the TNT Title once again, but for now, the timing of his title loss and the commencement of the series’ production explain Lee’s squash title victory and The American Nightmare’s sudden hiatus.
