Edge is one of the most decorated wrestlers in the professional wrestling industry and was the mainstay of WWE’s heel roster for a really long time. However, recurrent neck injuries forced the Rated R superstar to retire from in-ring competition quite early.

Edge made headlines at SummerSlam when he speared Elias during the pre-show. This was the first time Edge has got physical in the ring in a long time, which naturally led to fans speculating over a possible return to the ring for the Rated R Superstar.

Edge also left his podcast with Christian last week, without divulging any details over his departure. It was rumored that Edge wants to give more time to his family, considering his wife Beth Phoenix has joined NXT’s announcement team full-time.

According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is secretly trying to bring back the first-ever Money in the Bank winner to the ring, and it could happen quite soon.

“While it is not confirmed that he will wrestle again, the idea of him wrestling again has definitely been talked about very privately, although we’re not sure if he can get clearance.”

Edge retired in 2011 and will turn 46 this year. Edge is younger than superstars like Chris Jericho, Goldust, R-Truth, and The Undertaker and a final retirement match could be a possibility.

Another individual who had to retire due to recurrent neck injuries was Stone Cold Steve Austin, who was forced to leave the business in 2004. Similar to Edge, Austin retired at quite an early age in the wrestling world.

WON discussed Austin’s situation and said that there is currently no deal in place for Austin to return to the ring. Austin recently said that he was ready for one more match in WWE, leading to speculations over a possible return during Crown Jewel later this month.

The lure of Saudi money is quite tempting and brought back Shawn Michaels from retirement for one more match. Could Edge and/or Steve Austin return to the ring soon?
