NXT’s roster will kick off 2021 tonight with New Year’s Evil which will see a number of hotly anticipated matches take place.
One match that many NXT fans were looking forward to was the Fight Pit match between Timothy Thatcher and Tommaso Ciampa.
The match wasn’t part of NXT’s official preview for the show earlier today, which has led to many reports that it has been canceled.
According to a report by The Wrestling Observer, this is because of an injury to either Thatcher or Ciampa which meant that as early as yesterday, WWE was aware of the situation and the match was up in the air.
“This likely has to do with Ciampa vs. Thatcher. One of the two is injured and as of yesterday it wasn’t a sure thing if the match would happen or not.”
It’s unknown if WWE will replace the match on tonight’s show, but, as of writing, the New Year’s Evil card is still stacked and includes the likes of Finn Balor vs Kyle O’Reilly for the NXT Championship, Gran Metalik vs Santos Escobar for the NXT Cruiserweight Championship as well as Rhea Ripley vs Raquel Gonzalez in a Last Woman Standing Match.
Karrion Kross vs Damien Priest is also expected to take place as part of tonight’s show.
