WWE’s recent programming has changed quite a lot due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and several stars have had to work extra to cover up for some of the missing talents. One of these has been Asuka, who has appeared on RAW as well as SmackDown over the past few weeks and has been a breath of fresh air in every role she has played.
The Empress of Tomorrow’s work in these trying times has reportedly caught the attention of the WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, according to Wrestle Talk. Vince, along with the higher-ups have been impressed by her character work.
“Our sources noted that Vince and other WWE higher-ups have seen the ‘Empress of Tomorrow’ as incredibly reliable during these challenging times.”
Asuka joined WWE a few years ago and has been a dominant force in the company ever since. She went close to two years undefeated in NXT, won the first-ever Royal Rumble and has several other championship reigns to her name.
However, Asuka has always been No.2 to the Four Horsewomen of WWE, but it could change quite soon. The Empress getting in Vince’s good books will surely lead to big things for her in the coming times, and a Money in the Bank victory could be the way to go for the Japanese star.
Asuka and Kairi Sane lost the Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania to Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross, and it is the perfect opportunity to let them venture into the singles division for the time being.
Asuka defeated Ruby Riott in an excellent match on RAW this week to book her spot in the MITB ladder match and is one of the favorites to grab the briefcase. With her antics, she could make for an engaging MITB holder and her history with Becky Lynch will help to elevate her run with the briefcase.
