Goldberg and The Undertaker main evented WWE Super ShowDown on Friday night in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in what was the first match between the two men in a WWE ring. The match wasn’t what the WWE Universe was expecting since there were a number of cringy moments throughout which saw Goldberg bust open just minutes into the match when he crashed into the ring post.
Things didn’t get any better for Goldberg since he went on to drop The Undertaker as part of a Jack Hammer and then took a Tombstone that looked particularly dangerous.
It’s well-known that both Goldberg and Undertaker wanted this match because they’re friends and the payday in Saudi Arabia is much bigger than any other WWE pay-per-view.
It was thought that Goldberg had retired from the ring after he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame last year since he hadn’t stepped in the ring since he faced Brock Lesnar back at WrestleMania 33 where he lost his Universal Championship.
According to Fightful, Goldberg only returned to the ring in The Middle East as part of Super ShowDown because his wife and son were allowed to tag along. He personally requested that his family should be allowed to be there to support him even though neither was spotted in the crowd at the show.
As already noted, the match didn’t exactly go to plan since Goldberg lost via pinfall following a Chokeslam and then graphic videos were leaked online which showed that the former WCW Legend was unable to stand up on his own following the bout and collapsed at ringside.
There are various reports that suggest that Goldberg isn’t done with his wrestling career just yet and could appear a few more times on WWE TV in the coming weeks, but this is yet to be confirmed.
