All Elite Wrestling has promised the fans that a lot of surprises are in store for the upcoming debut of AEW Dynamite. It seems like former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Jack Swagger could be headed towards the new promotion.

According to a report by Sports Illustrated, the former WWE superstar is being kept as a surprise by AEW. Swagger left WWE in 2017 and has pursued a career in Mixed Martial Arts ever since. He made his debut for the second-biggest MMA promotion in USA, Bellator MMA, in 2018.

“In other wrestling news, a potential surprise for AEW’s premiere on TNT, Sports Illustrated has learned, is Jake Hager, better known from his WWE run as Jack Swagger. An ardent Trump supporter and legitimate big guy, Hager would fit in nicely as a villain for the promotion. He would also add depth to the card, and his work in Bellator MMA could have crossover appeal for AEW.”

Jack Swagger is currently 2-0 in his MMA career, after two convincing victories at Bellator 214 and 221. He is currently scheduled for a fight at Bellator 231 in October.

Swagger is also signed to Lucha Underground, where he is currently the top champion after he defeated current AEW star Pentagon Jr. Swagger was never a major name in WWE despite his several championship reigns, and he eventually decided to put his abilities to better use elsewhere.

The All American could be a fantastic addition to the AEW roster and will help AEW to connect with the audiences in a better way. Swagger has great crossover appeal thanks to his runs in WWE, Lucha Underground and Bellator, which would be beneficial for AEW.

With just two days to go for the imminent Wednesday Night Wars, AEW is holding their cards close to their chests and could spring several surprises on the debut episode of AEW Dynamite.
