Jeff Cobb debuted on AEW Dynamite last Wednesday as a mercenary for the faction, The Inner Circle.
While Cobb is set to appear in future shows for AEW, he is not signed with the company and remains a free agent. According to the Wrestling Observer, Cobb has only agreed to work a program against Jon Moxley.
While AEW has allegedly offered Cobb a deal, with AEW Executive Vice President Cody Rhodes wanting to sign him since Cobb’s Ring Of Honor contract expired back in January this year, Cobb is currently not interested.
“Right now, Cobb wants to work as much as he can for New Japan,” states the Wrestling Observer.
Cobb’s current storyline in AEW saw him coming to Dynamite to attack Moxley. Moxley is currently the number one contender for Inner Circle leader Chris Jericho’s AEW World Championship.
Jericho has “hired” Cobb to take Moxley out before their scheduled match at AEW Revolution. Cobb and Moxley are set for a match during the next episode of AEW Dynamite.
Cobb is also set to wrestle during Ring of Honor’s Supercard of Honor event that will take place on April 4. Cobb will be teaming with Dan Maff to take on KENTA and Taiji Ishimori.
The 37-year old Cobb was a former amateur wrestler who competed during the 2004 Summer Olympics. After making the transition to professional wrestling, he worked with Lucha Underground, Pro Wrestling Guerilla, and Progress Wrestling. He is mostly known for his work on Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro-Wrestling.
