John Cena will play the role of Peacemaker in the upcoming Suicide Squad movie, which is set to be released in August 2021.
Even though fans are yet to see Cena in his new role, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the former 16-time World Champion will be part of a spin-off series centered around his Peacemaker character.
The report revealed that the show has been commissioned for an eight-part first season with HBO Max and will be written by James Gunn, with Cena acting as a co-producer.
The series will reportedly explore the origins of the Peacemaker character and filming for the show is expected to begin in early 2021.
This schedule means that James Gunn will be finished in time to work on the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy movie.
John Cena was last seen in WWE back at WrestleMania when he was defeated by The Fiend in a Firefly Fun House match.
