Much of WWE’s main roster has roots in NXT since Triple H’s brand has taken over WWE over the past few years. The fact that NXT is now its own entity and provides a live weekly show on the USA Network means that many main roster stars are thinking about heading back to developmental.
“There is currently still a shortlist of people discussed between Vince McMahon and Triple H as to what superstars from RAW and SmackDown want to come to NXT. Asuka…is at the top of that list. She has had discussions about wanting to visit or at least be involved in NXT…Kevin Owens is another one who is on that list. He is someone who is interested in returning to NXT, and that could come at the next Shake-up.”
Owens has had some success on the main roster as a former Universal Champion, but he hasn’t been pushed to the heights that many fans believed he would on RAW. Currently, Owens is part of a main level feud on Monday Night RAW, but it’s easy to see Owens heading back to NXT since he returned to the brand to be part of War Games back in November.
Asuka has a RAW Women’s Championship match at the Royal Rumble when she takes on Becky Lynch for the second consecutive year, but the once undefeated star has been overlooked throughout the past few years on the main roster so it’s easy to see why she would want to return to NXT given the chance.
Finn Balor, Tyler Breeze, and Fandango have all proved that the move could be successful for both stars, so the next Superstar Shakeup or WWE Draft could definitely be an interesting one.
